Aster RV Hospital Brings Healthcare to Underserved: Medical Camp Benefits 200 Villagers in Hulugondanahalli

Under the banner of “Health for All 2024,” Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services and Aster RV Hospital successfully conducted a medical camp in association with the NSS team of Vijaya College, Bengaluru, for the remote rural villagers in the forest area of Hulugondanahalli. This area, situated near Harohalli in Kanakapura, lacks connectivity with Health care making access to healthcare extremely challenging for its residents.

Aster Volunteers is the CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare, committed to providing quality healthcare services to underserved communities through various initiatives and partnerships,” said Mr. Parashuram, Assistant Manager of the Aster Volunteer Group, CSR Wing, Aster RV”. “It was a very successful camp where medical services were provided to 200 households in this remote rural forest area. The villagers were found to have very limited awareness of health issues. During the camp, health check-ups were conducted for the villagers, revealing significant health concerns. We observed that 90% of the people had skin-related issues and were highly diabetic. Additionally, a majority had eye-related issues, and many were suffering from orthopedic problems,” noted Mr. Parashuram.

Given the villagers’ lack of awareness and understanding of their health conditions, medications were not administered immediately. Instead, the team focused on providing guidance and plans to monitor their conditions closely. The camp featured a Hygienic Health Talk aimed at the public. This talk emphasized the importance of health awareness and hygiene, seeking to educate and empower the villagers about maintaining good health practices.

“The uniqueness of our camp is that we will be conducting a follow-up visit next month to ensure we create a lasting impact on the health of these villagers,” added Mr. Parashuram.

The services provided during the medical camp included height and weight measurements, blood pressure checks, sugar tests, dental check-ups, eye testing, and consultations with general physicians. Additionally, specialized consultations with OBG and senior gynecology doctors were offered to address a broad range of health concerns among the villagers.

The commitment of Aster Volunteers underscores the importance of accessible healthcare for all, particularly in remote and underserved areas. This initiative marks a significant step towards improving the health and well-being of the villagers in Hulugondanahalli.
