Azhar Hussain: A Cinema Director Embracing Acting with Purpose

Azhar Hussain, known in the industry as a committed cinema director, is now stepping confidently into the world of acting with equal dedication and seriousness. His upcoming film Sultan Mirza marks an important milestone in his journey, where he plays a powerful police officer named Adhaar Pandey—a role he has performed with deep sincerity and discipline.

The transition from director to actor has become a topic of discussion among audiences, within Bollywood circles, and even in his own family. Many wonder how a cinema director could so seamlessly take on challenging acting roles. Azhar Hussain clarifies that acting is not new to him. He has previously worked in the iconic television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and portrayed a Bombay Police officer in the web series Bombay Bonds. These experiences strengthened his confidence and passion for acting alongside direction.

Sultan Mirza is now complete and scheduled for release soon. The film is directed by Iqbal Baksh and produced by Himayat Aalam Ali, who also plays the role of senior officer ACP Khan in the film. The lead antagonist is portrayed by Dev Gill, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Ehsan Khan, Yashpal Sharma, Rushad Rana, Zareena Wahab, Deepak Bhatia, Sikandar Khan, Jawed Mir, Tahir Kamal Khan, Amjad Qureshi, Mohammad Ehtasam, Gulshan Pandey, Dev Tiwari, and Sudhanshu Shekhar Shukla.

The film narrates the story of a masiha—a savior figure—from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and has been extensively shot across Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai. Rooted in realism and social depth, the film aims to connect strongly with the masses.

Azhar Hussain hopes that Sultan Mirza will open more doors for him—not only as a director but also as an actor. His aspiration is to continue working in films and web series, building a parallel acting career while staying true to his directorial roots.

He makes a sincere appeal to Bollywood and the Indian cinema industry to look beyond labels. “Do not see me only as an actor,” he says, “see me as part of the future of Indian cinema.” Azhar dreams of collaborating with major production houses and renowned directors, working on big-budget films, and establishing a strong face value and identity in the industry.

With dedication, experience, and an unshakable belief in cinema, Azhar Hussain continues to move forward—ready to be recognized not just for what he has been, but for what he is becoming.
