BJP corporator in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) – Samrat Abhay Thorat has organized an e-shram card registration drive for workers in the unorganized sector

“There are many residents of our constituency working as daily laborers and construction workers who have no identity proof to avail government schemes. Hence we have organized this drive so they can get E-Shram Card,” says Samrat Thorat

The E-Shram Card program was very beneficial for the workers in unorganized sectors. They got all the information about the schemes and facilities through this program. They were able to register for e-Shram Cards as well as for Aadhar cards, caste certificates, PAN cards, voter ID cards, insurance schemes, etc.

The camp was held for people in his constituency Khdakmal Ali – near the Ganesh Temple Ground Area, near Fadgate Police Station, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, Shukrawar Peth, Pune between 1 April to 4 April from 10 AM to 7 PM.

With several important schemes launched by the central government, E-Shram cards come as a large scheme to assist the labor class. The unorganized sector workers can get financial assistance in any corner of the country by registering for an e-shram card who are not members of Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) or Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).

Launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, for the welfare of the unorganized sector workers, candidates who register for the e-shram card will get a 12 digit Unique Identity Number (UAN). Once provided, this number will be unchanged for the worker’s lifetime. The workers don’t need to renew the card, to keep the account active he/she is required to update the account once a year. As the Aadhar card provides unique identification to every citizen, similarly UAN will provide the identity to the laborers.

Candidates can do self-registration through the e-shram portal or common service centre or regional office of state government in districts or sub-districts. The age of the candidate should be between 16-59 years.

Applicants need to have an Aadhar Card, a mobile number linked with the Aadhar and a bank account to register on the e-shram portal. E-Shram cards come with a variety of benefits such as accidental insurance covering up to two lakh rupees under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, financial assistance of one lakh rupees in case of partial disability, more job opportunities in the future and eligibility for several social security schemes floated by the government from time to time. It will enable the workers to receive a pension after the age of 60 years.

Around 25 crore people have already registered on the e-shram portal and the government aims to register 38 crores of unorganized workers. Additionally, The National Database Of Unorganized Workers (NDUW) can be used by the government in delivering various social security schemes implemented by the Central and State Governments. The integration of NDUW and the National Career Service (NCS) will aid the government in shaping new policies and creating employment opportunities in the future.

In case of any query related to the E-Shram card, applicants can call on toll-free number 14434 from Monday to Saturday, The service is available in different languages like Hindi, English, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Telugu and Assamese.

“Sometimes due to no electricity and roads, the residents here are facing major problems in carrying out their day to day work. They have to go to other areas to avail of government services too which is not always possible due to lack of time and money. All these problems are sorted in one go as they got all services under one roof” says Samrat Abhay Thorat.

Moving further with the sayings, Samrat Abhay Thorat also supported the people who do not have ration cards and are facing problems in getting food grains from fair price shops. On this occasion, he provided ration cards and made sure that they get their food grains in time

The main aim of this drive was to give e-shram card to the workers in unorganized sectors who are working hard and giving their best to their families. The people who are working in construction sites, factories, mines and other sectors face a lot of problems because they don’t get their salary on time, they have to face a lot of problems during medical treatment and many other problems.

Speaking on this occasion Samrat Thorat said that he is happy as people in his area are getting all the facilities under one roof. He said that due to such programs they can get medical treatment on time and can save themselves from major diseases such as diabetes and blood pressure etc. He further said that their constituency is developing soon and very soon they will be able to make their constituency a model constituency in Pune city.

Samrat Thorat’s consistent efforts in providing his best to the people have made him the youth icon of the country.

“However, the motive behind all this is to ensure people lead a healthy and happy life,” says Samrat Abhay Thorat.
