Jehanabad, Bihar: Renowned Bollywood film director Azhar Hussain, originally from Mumbai, recently completed a spiritual ziyarat (pilgrimage) at the Dargah of Hazrat Haider Shah Sailani Rahmatullah Alaih, located in Jehanabad district of Bihar.
This centuries-old shrine holds deep spiritual and historical significance, having been served and maintained by the Hussain family lineage for over 200 years, following divine guidance and dedication. The family’s lineage of khadims (caretakers) includes respected names such as Maulana Zafaruddin (1821–1918), Shaheed Dada Saheb Amiruddin (1845–1919), Mohammad Samsuddin (1872–1958), Mohammad Ghulam Rasool (1894–1977), and Mohammad Imamuddin (1921–2012).
The present khadim, Mohammad Iqbal Ahmad Kadri, has been serving continuously since 2012. Director Azhar Hussain’s father, Mohammad Anwar Hussain, is the eldest son of Mohammad Imamuddin, continuing the family’s strong spiritual connection to the Dargah.
The Dargah of Hazrat Haider Shah Sailani is famous for its miraculous traditions. Local devotees believe that if a missing person’s cloth is tied to the sacred tree within the shrine, the individual returns home within forty days. The shrine is also known for providing spiritual healing for those believed to be affected by supernatural forces or negative energies, often resulting in immediate relief.
One of the most remarkable features of the Dargah is its ancient tamarind tree, said to bear the sweetest tamarind in the world—a claim that has stood undisputed for generations.
During his visit, Azhar Hussain was accompanied by his sister, Rumana Praveen. The siblings spent time with the families residing in the Dargah’s vicinity, sharing moments of reflection and devotion. The director expressed that the visit brought him immense peace and spiritual satisfaction.
Speaking to local well-wishers, Azhar Hussain encouraged people to visit the shrine, saying that the Dargah of Hazrat Haider Shah Sailani is a place where every problem finds its solution and where faith continues to guide and heal hearts for centuries.
