Chief Minister Attends State-Level Review of New Criminal Laws at Samman Bhawan

New Delhi, July 14: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang today presided over a high-level state review meeting vvto assess the implementation of three landmark criminal justice reforms: the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which came into effect on July 1, 2024.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the crucial role of these reforms in enhancing public safety, procedural efficiency, and citizen-centric justice.

He also offered strategic guidance to ensure seamless integration of the laws, with a strong focus on public safety, security, and convenience.

Home Secretary Mr M. Bharani presented the New Criminal Laws (NCL) Progress Report, detailing key milestones and ongoing implementation efforts.

Likewise, Chief Minister handed over appreciation letters to all officers involved in compiling the compendium.

The meeting also marked the formal launch of the Compendium of Notifications, Rules, and SOPs on New Criminal Laws, a comprehensive guide to support effective rollout.

In attendance were Chief Secretary Mr R .Telang, DGP Akshay Sachdev, the Law Secretary, Health Secretary, and senior officials from the Sikkim Police and NIC.
