New Delhi, August 1: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang attended the Utkarsh Utsav held at Raj Bhawan today, commemorating the successful completion of one year in office by Governor Mr Om Prakash Mathur. The event marked a significant occasion, celebrating a year of dedicated constitutional service and exemplary leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister extended heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the Governor on behalf of the Government of Sikkim and the people of the state. He described the past year as a period of pride and privilege for the state government, having had the opportunity to work under the Governor’s visionary and experienced leadership.
The Chief Minister highlighted the Governor’s commitment to constitutional values, which has significantly strengthened the democratic institutions of the state. He also praised the Governor’s humility, wisdom, and compassion, which have positively influenced both administrative governance and the socio-cultural fabric of Sikkim.
The Governor’s initiatives, such as “Gaon Mein Governor”, were applauded for effectively connecting Raj Bhawan to the grassroots, promoting public engagement and transparency. His advocacy for women empowerment through the vision of “Empowered Women, Empowered Nation” was also commended as an inspiring message for the state.
Acknowledging the Governor’s consistent encouragement to children as the future of the nation, the Chief Minister noted his emphasis on education, discipline, and moral development. He further appreciated the Governor’s strong focus on national pride, environmental preservation, organic farming, and respect for India’s armed forces, all of which resonate deeply with Sikkim’s values and vision.
In his address, the Chief Minister stated that the Governor’s presence has instilled hope in rural communities, confidence among the youth, and a sense of direction for governance and development. “He is a guiding light for all of us,” the Chief Minister remarked, expressing heartfelt gratitude and best wishes for the Governor’s continued good health and success.
The event also witnessed the presence of the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court, Justice Biswanath Somadder, Speaker SLA Mr M.N Sherpa along with the HODs, senior officials, several dignitaries, students and well-wishers making the celebration both grand and meaningful.
