New Delhi, August 12: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated the 300 ft Indreni Bailey Suspension Bridge, at Singtam today.
The event began with the offering of puja and then with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a walkthrough by the Chief Minister and officials, who inspected the bridge’s features and interacted with the representatives present.
Reconstructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the Indreni Bridge symbolizes the resilience and collaborative spirit of Sikkim. It is designed to strengthen the connectivity between East and South Sikkim, facilitating smoother transportation and enhancing the region’s economic potential.
It is important to note that the original Indreni Bridge was washed away during the flash flood on October 4th, 2023. The newly constructed bridge is now open to the public, restoring a lifeline to the region and paving the way for renewed growth and development.
The successful completion of the Indreni Bridge project stands as a testament to engineering prowess, teamwork, and relentless pursuit of progress.
As Sikkim continues to rebuild and grow, this bridge will undoubtedly serve as a vital link, contributing significantly to the state’s future prosperity.
