New Delhi, July 16: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang met and interacted with the representatives and members of the All India Government Drivers Confederation (AIGDC) at Samman Bhawan, Gangtok on Monday evening. The meeting highlighted the government’s dedication to the welfare of drivers across various states.
The Chief Minister expressed sincere gratitude to the AIGDC representatives for their tokens of appreciation, which were presented by various State representatives including the executives of All Sikkim Government Drivers Association (ASGDA).
This gesture acknowledged the government’s commitment to improving the lives of drivers, exemplified by the unique initiative, ‘Chalak Samman Diwas,’ aimed at supporting the sarathi fraternity and their families.
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s proactive efforts towards the welfare of the sarathis and affirmed their ongoing commitment towards them.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister extended best wishes to both AIGDC and ASGDA for their future endeavors, emphasizing ongoing support for their cause.
Mr Somnath Adhikari , Vice President, ASGDA expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for honoring the drivers and their profession. He also noted how the government’s unique initiative ‘Chalak Samman Diwas’ has brought honor to their profession nationwide.
He further highlighted some issues related to recent AI rules and norms, urging the government to consider these concerns. He also assured full support to the government from ASGDA.
Earlier, the Chief Minister was felicitated by the delegates from AIGDC.
