● India’s leading eVTOL manufacturer joins forces with one of the country’s first dedicated eVTOL operators to drive UAM infrastructure and operations
● Key locations in Gurgaon and Noida identified to support UAM operations.
India, March 5, 2025 – The ePlane Company, India’s foremost eVTOL manufacturer and the only company in the country with Design Organization Approval (DOA), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ETAC, one of India’s first dedicated eVTOL operators. This landmark partnership is set to fast-track the deployment of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) solutions, focusing on operational readiness, vertiport infrastructure, and pilot training to revolutionize aerial mobility in India.
A Strategic Alliance to Propel India’s UAM Ecosystem
With global urban air mobility markets gaining momentum, India is positioning itself at the forefront of eVTOL adoption. This collaboration between The ePlane Company and ETAC represents a pivotal step in bridging the gap between cutting-edge eVTOL technology and real-world operational implementation.
Key Pillars of the Partnership:
● Aircraft Procurement: ETAC has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to purchase an undisclosed number of aircrafts from The ePlane Company, reinforcing its commitment to commercial deployment and urban air mobility operations
● Vertiport Infrastructure: With India’s urban congestion challenges in mind, ETAC has begun identifying potential vertiport locations in Gurgaon and Noida. The ePlane Company will provide technical expertise in vertiport planning and integration to ensure seamless airspace and ground operations
● Pilot Training & Workforce Development: Addressing the talent pipeline, ETAC will establish a Type Rating Training Organization (TRTO) to train India’s first generation of eVTOL pilots. The ePlane Company will contribute full-scale simulators, a trainer aircraft and will also assist in developing training curricula
Beyond this initial agreement, both companies envision further collaboration, including Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, as well as innovative commercial models for revenue-sharing across vertiport operations and pilot training programs.
“As India’s first company with a civil eVTOL aircraft in certification, our vision extends beyond manufacturing—we are building an entire ecosystem for sustainable urban air mobility,” said Prof. Satya Chakravarthy, Founder, The ePlane Company. “This partnership with ETAC is a critical step toward making eVTOLs an integral part of India’s transportation landscape.”
Capt. Vinod Sanan, ETAC, added, “As pioneers in eVTOL operations, we are committed to laying the foundation for a robust UAM network. With a focus on vertiport infrastructure in Gurgaon and Noida, combined with ePlane’s advanced technology, we are set to accelerate India’s transition to safe, efficient, and scalable aerial mobility.”
This collaboration underscores India’s commitment to next-generation transportation solutions, positioning the country as a global leader in the rapidly evolving global eVTOL industry.
