The company recently announced its plan to launch its own hospitals in the next few months
Bengaluru, India – 11 February 2025: Even, India’s fast-growing integrated healthcare provider is working towards a significant but under-addressed challenge patients, insurers and even hospitals face in India – avoidable readmissions due to weak post-surgery care.
Currently, around 10% of hospitalised patients across medical conditions are readmitted within the first 30 days of surgery and around 60% of these cases are preventable. A significant number of readmissions occur within two weeks of discharge, with initial symptoms often emerging within three days. Even’s team ensures that the relevant clinical practices are put in place and members are cared for the right way after they are discharged from the hospital.
By addressing common issues like missed medications, difficulties in reaching doctors, overlooked symptoms, and lapses in follow-up care, Even’s preliminary efforts in this area have achieved notable results in reducing avoidable readmissions by up to 50%. These interventions have proven effective in managing post-surgery infections such as reducing respiratory infection recurrences, and supporting cardiac patients in adhering to their prescribed treatments.
“Full recovery is why anyone gets under the knife. Besides a financial setback, patients and families also undergo a mental setback due to hospital readmissions. At Even, we want to keep people healthy and have fewer hospital stays through robust primary care delivered at the right time. Whether through early risk detection in routine check-ups or critical pre- and post-hospitalisation support, we are able to tactically align patients’ interest with the insurers and providers and rebuild trust within the healthcare system. ” said Matilde Giglio, Co-founder, Even.
The company is currently a trusted healthcare provider for over 200,000+ members comprising both individual and corporate clients. The managed care programs cater to a wide age range, from 15 to 75 years.
Even Healthcare is pioneering the concept of vertically-integrated care in India through providing its members consultations with its in-house team of doctors across specialities, a growing network of its own clinics, a generous OPD plan covering external consultations and tests, and an IPD plan covering hospitalisations through its insurance partners.
The company recently announced plans of opening its own hospitals, beginning with two hospitals to be launched in the next few months in Bengaluru, India. The company had earlier announced a $30 million Series-A round supported by Khosla Ventures, Founders Fund, 8VC, Lachy Groom and others.
Even’s efforts represent a step towards more accessible and proactive healthcare solutions in India. By prioritising proactive care and strengthening post-hospitalisation support, the organisation seeks to improve patient recovery and reduce strain on the healthcare system.
