Recently, the programme celebrated a series of remarkable achievements by its scholarship athletes across multiple disciplines. Divyanshi Bhowmick, a rising star in Indian table tennis, made history by becoming the first Indian in 36 years to clinch the Under-15 Girls’ Singles title at the Asian Youth Championships in Uzbekistan. Divyanshi’s journey to the top was marked by impressive victories over international opponents, including triumphs against players from Japan and China, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination at just 15 years of age.

In the world of badminton, 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma has emerged as a global sensation. She became the youngest Indian woman ever to reach a BWF World Tour Final at the US Open Super 300 in Iowa, defeating world-ranked shuttlers such as Polina Buhrova and top seed Beiwen Zhang. Tanvi also achieved the historic milestone of becoming the World No. 1 Junior Women’s Singles player, firmly establishing herself as one of the brightest prospects in Indian badminton. Her remarkable run at the YONEX U.S. Open, including a stunning first-round victory over World No. 23 Nguyen Thuy Linh, underscores her growing presence on the international stage and highlights the impact of GAIL’s support in shaping her career.

In golf, Anshul Mishra emerged victorious at the IGU 123rd All India Amateur Golf Championship, while in tennis, Laxmi Dandu reached the finals of the J60 Girls Singles event in Chennai. Additionally, Tanvi Patri secured the Women’s U-15 Singles title at the Badminton Asia U-17 & U-15 Junior Championships in Chengdu, China, further demonstrating the breadth of talent supported by the initiative.
