Harness Grows India Team by 75%, Investing in New AI R&D Center as Hiring Scales Toward 1,000 Employees

Bangalore, India – December 23, 2025 — Harness, the AI DevOps Platform™ company founded by entrepreneur Jyoti Bansal, today announced a significant expansion in India, driven by rapid team growth and continued investment in its AI Research and Development Center in Bangalore. In 2025, Harness’s India organisation grew to approximately 480 employees, a 75% jump year-over-year, with plans to scale to over 1,000 employees in the coming years.

The global software landscape is undergoing a major shift as generative AI accelerates how developers write code. But the real bottlenecks in software delivery now lie after the code is written –  testing, securing, deploying, and scaling software across complex distributed systems. This outer loop represents 60-70% of developers’ time, so it’s important that AI is applied thoughtfully throughout the full software delivery lifecycle to get the most value.

Harness sees this “after the code” complexity as the defining engineering challenge of the decade, and one that cannot be solved with piecemeal automation. Instead, it requires unified intelligence across the entire delivery lifecycle, built by teams who deeply understand the realities of modern software development. The expansion of Harness’s India R&D footprint is designed to accelerate that mission.

“As we scale our engineering organisation in India, Harness is turning long-term hiring plans into execution,” said Jyoti Bansal, co-founder and CEO of Harness. “By expanding our senior engineering, generative AI, and platform intelligence teams, we’re building a high-performance AI engineering ecosystem with the depth and scale needed to accelerate our most advanced product capabilities, including intelligent testing, cloud cost optimization, modern resiliency, and security-aware DevOps automation. India is taking on an increasingly strategic role as a major hub for the innovations that shape Harness’s long-term platform vision.”

India AI R&D Center Driving Hiring at Scale

Harness currently employs approximately 480 people in India across R&D, operations, and GTM functions. The expanded growth plan further deepens this mandate, supporting the company’s goal of employing over 1,000 workers in India within the next three years.

To support sustained growth, Harness is building multiple talent pipelines in India. A significant portion of recent hires have come from leading engineering institutions, including IITs, BITS, and other top universities, complemented by a growing internship pipeline. At the same time, the company continues to hire engineers based on capability, problem-solving depth, and product mindset, drawing talent from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds.

Beyond hiring, Harness plans to deepen its engagement with the local developer community through expanded community programs, technical events, university partnerships, and collaborations that support the next generation of engineering talent.

“We’re building one of the world’s most advanced AI engineering ecosystems right here in India,” said Prashant Verma, Head of R&D India, Harness. “Our teams are solving real problems that developers, DevOps, and security teams face every day – and doing it with an AI-first mindset. The expanded R&D center allows us to grow thoughtfully while giving teams real ownership that will shape the future of software delivery.”

The Future of Software Delivery in the AI Era

This expansion comes during a period of rapid platform growth for Harness. In 2025, the company launched Harness AI, unifying intelligence across testing, security, deployment, operations, and cost to automate everything after code creation. Harness also completed a merger with Traceable in March 2025 and an acquisition of Qwiet AI in October 2025, offering a fully end-to-end, AI DevSecOps platform.

Harness’s continued investment in India is supported by strong financial backing for long-term growth. The company most recently announced a $240 million Series E financing round, valuing Harness at $5.5 billion. The financing further strengthens Harness’s ability to invest in AI innovation, expand its global R&D footprint, and scale teams in key markets such as India.

As the industry continues to shift, Harness’s India teams will continue to play a defining role in shaping how organisations test, secure, deploy, and operate software after the code is written.
