The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 was almost the ten most-watched seasons of any Prime Video show, with the premiere episode more than doubling the viewership of season 1 after just three days.
Along with book sales, the musical artists featured in the series saw a boost in streams and the stars of the series saw their social media follower counts skyrocket when the series premiered in 2022. The series boasts phenomenal soundtracks from high-profile artists like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. When season 2 premiered in 2023, the #thesummeriturnedpretty hashtag had racked up more than 10 billion views on TikTok, a number that surely grew in the past year, as fans eagerly waited for the final season to drop.
In Season 1, viewers were introduced to Belly and her yearly traditions at the beach house owned by Susannah, her mother’s best friend. Alongside Susannah’s sons, Conrad and Jeremiah, Belly’s summer was always familiar until the year she turned sixteen. The first installment brought with it a debutante ball, a tangled love triangle, and a tender connection with Conrad. But even as love blossomed, heartbreak loomed and Susannah’s battle with cancer cast a shadow over the summer. In the end, Belly and Conrad finally get together, while Susannah opts for an experimental cancer treatment, holding on to hope for more time.

Season 2 opens on a somber note, with Susannah’s passing leaving both families shattered and summer at Cousins Beach forever changed. Belly, still recovering from grief and a painful breakup with Conrad, finds herself emotionally adrift. Meanwhile, Jeremiah harbors unresolved feelings for Belly tinged with resentment over how things ended. When Conrad suddenly goes missing from college, Belly and Jeremiah reunite to track him down, only to discover he’s returned to Cousin Beach, desperate to save the beach house from being sold by Susannah’s estranged sister, Julia. Joined by Steven and Taylor, the group bands together to protect the home that holds their most cherished memories. After an emotional journey filled with heartache, healing, and difficult truths, Conrad and Jeremiah convince their father to buy the house back, keeping it in the family. As summer fades, Belly begins to process her loss, her feelings for Jeremiah deepen, and despite Conrad’s confession of love, she chooses Jeremiah reclaiming her spark, her sport, and a sense of peace.
