–       Almost one in five students prefer a completely virtual process, while corporates seem to favour tried and tested physical approach

National, 27 November, 2024: According to a recent analysis by HirePro, an AI-powered recruitment automation firm, virtual hiring has emerged as a widely accepted recruitment method across the educational ecosystem. HirePro’s study reveals that 95% of students, 90% of academia, and 71% of corporate recruiters feel at ease with digital recruitment processes, highlighting the growing acceptance of virtual hiring. The study surveyed over 20,000+ students, 350+ colleges, 200+ corporates and 100+ recruiters.

The study reveals that a hybrid approach combining physical and virtual processes is most preferred, with 51% of students, 67% of academia, and 49% of corporate recruiters favouring this mixed methodology. This balanced approach allows organisations to leverage the benefits of both traditional and digital recruitment methods. All three stakeholder groups – students, educational institutions, and employers have advocated several key advantages of virtual hiring. 78% of students reported enhanced convenience, and 84% noted better access to a larger number of companies. Academia experienced similar benefits, with 83% noting improved convenience and 90% reporting better company access. Corporate recruiters also acknowledged these advantages, with 78% citing improved convenience.

However, the shift to virtual hiring comes with its own set of challenges. The quality of interaction emerged as a concern, with 27% of students, 30% of academia, and 26% of corporate representatives reporting deterioration in engagement quality. Similar concerns were raised about the depth of evaluation and authenticity of the process.

Cost efficiency emerged as a significant advantage, particularly for academia and corporate sectors, with 73% and 90% respectively reporting improved hiring costs through virtual processes. The speed of hiring also saw notable improvements, with 78% of students and 77% of academia reporting faster recruitment cycles.
