How To Prepare For World War III

Ongoing escalation in Europe can further make matters worse and can potentially lead to a major war

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine seems to be deteriorating. While Russia has hired North Korean soldiers, Ukraine has received the green signal to use USA-made missiles to strike deep into Russia. Russia has also used ICBM, a first in a war situation. With the potential of more countries getting involved, the situation appears to be the same as it was at the beginning of World War I and World War II. Countries like Finland and Sweden have already asked their citizens to get ready for war.

In view of the escalating war-like situation, it will be better to be ready for the worst. Here is what you can do in terms of how to prepare for World War III.

Stock on food and water – If you are dependent on store-bought food and water, it is recommended that you have enough stock for at least a month. As no one can predict the exact date, you can keep using and restocking. A month’s supply of food and water will help you overcome the initial shortage caused due to a major war. If you do not have an adequate budget, you can also choose 10-day stock or at least a week’s supply.

Medicines – As compared to food and water that may be available locally, medicines are usually sourced across global supply chains. A major war can cause disruption in supply chains, since air and sea routes will be impacted. Your stock of essential medicines should be more than that of your food stock. For your regular medicines, it is recommended that you create a stock of around two months. You also need to stock up on other supplies such as first-aid kits, antiseptic, bandages, pain relievers, etc.

Prepare for electricity cuts – In a war, the enemy often attacks the basic infrastructure such as electricity generation plants and distribution systems. You should be prepared for extended electricity cuts. It will be better to have solar panels, rechargeable battery packs, flashlights, etc. Warm clothing will also be needed to survive during periods of electricity cuts.

Keep some cash – In a major war, it is possible that electricity or internet networks may stop working. Having some cash at home will help you deal with unexpected emergency situations.

Learn survival skills – Various resources are available online that can teach you how to survive independently. For example, you can learn about things like providing first aid, DIY water purification techniques, food preservation, etc. These skills will come handy during a major war.

Be informed – Make sure you have access to all the important communication that the government or other reliable sources may be providing. It could be warnings about emerging threats or guidance regarding how to move to a safe location. In a war like situation, a radio can be an important tool to listen to emergency broadcasts.

Be mentally prepared – In the age we live, most of us cannot even dream about World War III. But bad things have happened in the past and they will happen again. That is why it is important to be mentally prepared to face the worst situation. If you are not mentally prepared, the shock of a major war in your neighborhood can make you emotionally unstable. It can impact your decision making and survival skills. As is rightly said – Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Work as a team – During a major war, your neighbors and community can be a huge help. Resources and skills can be shared for the benefit of everyone. During a major war, it is important for the community to stick together. Daily meetings can be organized to share updates and create plans to deal with emerging risks.
