ITM IHM Expands Career Opportunities Through Integrated IATA Pathway

Mumbai, June 2026: As the global travel and tourism industry continues to evolve, hospitality careers are increasingly extending beyond traditional hotel roles. To prepare students for this changing landscape, ITM Institute of Hotel Management (ITM IHM) offers an integrated pathway to the globally recognised IATA Foundation in Travel & Tourism diploma alongside its hospitality degree program, enabling students to build careers across airlines, airports, cruise lines, travel companies, and international tourism organisations.

The IATA pathway is designed to provide students with a strong understanding of the global travel ecosystem and international industry standards. The IATA offering complements ITM IHM’s broader global education model, which includes international internships and placements across destinations such as Mauritius, the USA, France, New Zealand, and the UAE.  By combining hospitality service excellence with travel and aviation operations knowledge, ITM IHM graduates develop the versatility required to succeed across multiple sectors of the global mobility industry.

The program’s impact is reflected in recent student placements. Abdu Sami and Harshal Kshirsagar secured Associate Operations roles with WNS, while Amy Philip joined Cathay Pacific as a Customer Care Advisor. Prachita Rane was placed with Etraveli as a Fulfilment Agent, highlighting the diverse opportunities available through the pathway.

Through the IATA certification, students gain knowledge in airline geography, fare construction, passenger handling, ticketing procedures, and global reservation systems. They also learn to use Global Distribution Systems (GDS), advise travellers on passport, visa, and insurance requirements, and plan travel experiences involving flights, hotels, cruises, rail services, and tour packages. While the IATA examination is optional and involves an additional cost, the pathway is embedded within the academic experience and is encouraged for students seeking careers in aviation, travel, and tourism.

This initiative by ITM IHM reflects its commitment to preparing students for global careers beyond traditional hospitality roles. By offering access to the internationally recognised IATA pathway within the same learning ecosystem, students can develop specialised knowledge in aviation, travel, and tourism while pursuing their degree, enhancing their readiness for emerging opportunities across the global mobility industry.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Purva Tawde, Director, ITM Institute of Hotel Management, said, “The future of hospitality is closely connected with the growth of global travel and tourism. Through the IATA pathway, our students gain international exposure that prepares them for rewarding careers across hospitality, aviation, and travel services.”

Admissions are now open for students aspiring to build global careers across hospitality, aviation, travel, and tourism through ITM IHM’s industry-focused programs. Apply Now at: https://itm.edu/lp/ihm
