MOON MAN OF INDIA PADMASHRI DR. MYLSWAMY ANNADURAI JOINS BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF SS INNOVATIONS

Brings wealth of expertise on Robotics and futuristic technologies

SS Innovations, India’s first and only home-grown surgical robotic firm has announced the on-boarding of Padmashri Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, popularly known as the Moon Man of India as a Director on its Board of Directors in both the Indian entity – SS Innovations Private Limited as well as in the global entity, SS Innovations International Inc,

SSI MANTRA, the first and indigenously developed surgical robotic system and the brain child of Dr. Sudhir Prem Srivastava is second to none on features, usage, technology and stands on par with international surgical robotic systems.

Welcoming Padmashri Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai on the Board of SS Innovations, Dr. Sudhir Prem Srivastava, Founder, Chairman and CEO, SS Innovations says, “Padmashri Dr. Annadurai is credited with putting India on the global map. His scientific temper in the field of robotics and new-age technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and sophisticated engineering projects, which underpins his passion for science and technology, augurs well for SS Innovations as we endeavour to improvise our robotic surgical system and chart our future with many other disruptive technologies that we plan to bring to reality. His wealth of knowledge with respect to engineering projects and sophisticated assemblies will add value to the company as we move forward

Commenting on his association with SS Innovations, Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai says “India has time and again demonstrated its technological prowess for the world to take notice of. The indigenously developed surgical robotic system, SSI MANTRA, is a demonstration of harnessing modern technologies and pushing its limits with the intent of taking it to the masses and the common man and proof that superior technology need not necessarily come with a weighted price tag. Science and technology, in my opinion, should be the change agent for a better and brighter tomorrow”

In his capacity as the Director on the Board of SS Innovations, Padmashri Dr. Annadurai, having led multiple space missions, demonstrates not only the ability to lead a team of scientists, but more importantly guide a team of engineers who have a developed a world class surgical robotic system on newer technologies and products. Dr. Annadurai would also be able to guide SS Innovations on potential collaborations with indigenously Indian companies who might be able to develop and produce some of the components that are presently used in the SSI Mantra System. This would further aid in reducing the cost of the technology while promoting indigenous Indian high tech companies.

About Dr. Sudhir Prem Srivastava:

Dr. Srivastava, Founder, Chairman and CEO, SS Innovations and the brand behind SSI MANTRA, India’s first and only surgical robotic system, received his medical degree at J.L.N. Medical College in Rajasthan at the age of 21. Shortly thereafter, he left for the United States where he started his post-graduate training and finally completed his residency in General and Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of British Columbia Hospitals in Vancouver, Canada. In 2003, as the founding chairman along with 10 other physicians, he founded Alliance Hospital, a centre of excellence in cardiovascular disease in West Texas, USA. While there, he performed the world’s first single vessel ‘Totally Endoscopic Coronary Artery Bypass’ (TECAB) on a beating heart. Dr. Srivastava is the only person in the world to have performed a quadruple TECAB on a beating heart while at the University of Chicago. In his career, Dr. Srivastava has performed over 1400 robotic cardiothoracic surgeries, including 750 beating heart TECAB cases that represents the largest experience in the world. It was his passion to expand the minimally invasive surgical techniques, that drove him to teach and train over 350 surgical teams globally in robotic coronary bypass procedures and it is that same passion that helped him lead the development of the SSI Mantra system after seeing the disparity in the global access to robotic surgery.

About SS Innovations:

SS Innovations has been involved in the field of medical robotic technology over the past decade. By pushing the limits of technology, SS Innovations aims to improve the quality of medical services for patients all over the world. SS Innovations is at the forefront of advancing technology, cutting-edge training to push the field of medical robotics forward. SS Innovations is aware that innovation is the key to progress and therefore it is constantly refining and improving its technology and practices to help build a brighter future.

About SSI Mantra:

The SSI Mantra Surgical Robotic System, by SS Innovations, is a modular multi-arm system with many advanced technology features. It allows for the use of 3-5 robotic arms, has an open-faced ergonomic Surgeon Command Centre, 32-inch large 3D 4K monitor, a 23-inch 2D Touch panel monitor for all patient related information display, a virtual real-time image of the robotic Patient Side Arm Carts, and the ability for superimposition of 3D models of diagnostic imaging. The Vision Cart gives the table-side team the same magnified 3D 4K view as the Surgeon to provide better safety and efficiency. The modular robotic arms give flexibility in positioning and the number of arms to be used. This allows for collision-free conduct of surgical operations. There are over 30 different types of robotic endo-surgical instruments that can be used for different specialties including Cardiac Surgery. The learning curve is short due to its very thoughtful and ergonomic design and user-friendly features.
