From Inside Out 2 to Dune: Part Two, audiences flocked theatres to watch the return of their favourite franchises, resulting in billion dollar revenues at the box office. Come 2025, we will witness a surge to the cinemas like never before with dynamic releases in store that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. From Mission Impossible: – The Final Reckoning to Captain America: Brave New World and Avatar: Fire and Ash, here are 10 movies that shouldn’t be missed out on in the coming year.

  1. Captain America: Brave New World

The penultimate movie to MCU Phase 5, Captain America: Brave New World is directed by Julius Onah. The story centres around the election of Thaddeus Ross as the president of the United States where Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) finds himself at the center of an international incident and must work to stop the true masterminds behind it and face off against a Red Hulk! The film is set to release in India on 14th February 2025 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

  1. Avatar: Fire and Ash

Director James Cameron returns with the much awaited third part of the Avatar franchise with Avatar: Fire And Ash. The film will continue to explore the relationship between Payakan and Lo’ak as well as the whole Tulkun culture and their hierarchies. The film is set for a worldwide release on 19th December 2025.

  1. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

The eighth installment of the Mission Impossible series sees Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his allies attempt to defeat Gabriel and destroy the Entity once and for all. The final showdown will likely take place aboard the sunken Sevastopol, though since Ethan has no idea where the wreck is, discovering that information should drive the early plot. An early teaser released in November 2024 reinforces these ideas but offers little in the way of actual plot, so we’ll have to wait until an official synopsis is released. The film releases on 23rd May 2025

  1. Zootopia 2

Zootopia 2 is finally hitting the theatres after 9 years, bringing Judy Hopps, the determined rabbit cop,back to the screen.The sequel dives deeper into the diverse city of Zootopia, tackling issues of unity, acceptance. Judy is voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, Alongside Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, Shakira as Gazelle and Ke Huy Quan as Gary. Zootopia 2 releases on 26th November 2025.

  1. Snow White

The live action version of Snow White, based on Disney’s 1937 classic directed by Marc Webb,is set to release in theatres on 21st March 2025. With a fresh perspective on Snow white character the story moves around Snow White and the Wicked Queen’s battle between good and evil. The film stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White, Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and Patrick Page who has voiced for the mirror on the wall, amongst other renowned stars.

  1. Lilo & Stitch

Disney’s Classic Lilo & Stitch being recreated for the new generation and being brought to life in a live-action format showcasing the story of Lilo’s bond with mischievous alien Stitch with a touch of heart and humor. The film is directed by Dean Fleischer Cam, featuring Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Agudong as her older sister Nani and Billy Magnussen & Zach Galifianakis as the aliens Pleakley and Jumba. Lilo & Stitch releases on 23rd May 2025.

  1. Thunderbolts*

Marvel’s new antihero story follows a group of villains recruited to work for the U.S. government. The new action and star-packed film comes from director Jake Schreier (“Beef”), featuring Florence Pugh as Black Widow Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov, Lewis Pullman as Robert Reynolds, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a U.S. agent. Thunderbolts* releases on 2nd May 2025

  1. Karate Kid: Legends

Karate Kid: Legends” is bringing together Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso and Jackie Chan as Mr. Han, with a new student played by Ben Wang. Daniel and Mr. Han will have to team up but find themselves reconciling their different teaching styles. The film is directed by Jonathan Entwistle with screenplay from Rob Lieber, releasing worldwide on May 30th, 2025.

  1. Ballerina

The “John Wick” spinoff will follow Ana de Armas as an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma. Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as John Wick in the spinoff action film, joined by Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, the late Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus and Ian McShane. The film is set to release worldwide on June 6th, 2025.
