NMIMS School of Hospitality Management and Shannon College of Hotel Management Announce their First International Collaboration and Dynamic Partnership

Mumbai, India, 1st May 2024– NMIMS School of Hospitality Management and Shannon College of Hotel Management, University of Galway, Ireland, have partnered to launch a transformative program to advance hospitality education and promote international collaboration. The official signing ceremony at NMIMS University, Mumbai, marked the beginning of a dynamic journey in redefining hospitality education.

Distinguished guests from both institutions graced the occasion with their presence. The esteemed delegation from the Consulate and the University of Galway comprised Ms Anita Kelly, Consul General of Ireland in Mumbai; Ms Pamela Likely, Lecturer and Co-Chair of EDI – Shannon College of Hotel Management (Shannon College Alumni); Mrs Anju Singh, Senior Regional Manager, South Asia University of Galway; and Ms Sarah O Mahony, Marketing Manager, Shannon College of Hotel Management (Shannon College Alumni).

Representatives from NMIMS University included Dr Sharad Mhaiskar, Vice Chancellor; Dr Ruchita Verma, Dean of the School of Hospitality Management; Ms Meena Saxena, Director of International Linkages; Dr Ketan Chande, Associate Professor of the School of Hospitality Management; and Dr Rahul Kanekar, Associate Professor of the School of Hospitality Management and Mr. Burzeen Bhathena, Director Marketing & PR, NMIMS University.

At the signing of MoU Ms Anita Kelly, Consul General of Ireland in Mumbai said, “I am delighted with this new partnership between NMIMS and Shannon College of Hotel Management. I am happy to share that our graduates are holding important positions in some of the finest hotels around the world. I am confident that this collaboration between the two institutions will generate huge opportunities for the students to flourish in the global hospitality industry.”

The flagship program offered by NMIMS School of Hospitality Management and Shannon College of Hotel Management is a 2+2 year dual-degree program that boasts a comprehensive curriculum co-designed by both institutions. It provides students with a global perspective and practical insights into the hospitality industry. The program will confer the degrees of Bachelor of Business Administration in Hospitality Operations & Management from NMIMS School of Hospitality Management and Bachelor of Business Studies (International Hotel Management) from Shannon College, University of Galway.

To be eligible for the program at the School of Hospitality Management, NMIMS, students should have a minimum of 50% marks from various streams of 10+2, followed by a written test and personal interview. After the completion of their second year at NMIMS, a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 and an interview by Shannon College are required for eligibility.

With their first two years spent at NMIMS and the final two at Shannon College, students will have the opportunity to hone their skills in diverse environments and gain invaluable international exposure. The program also includes a mandatory nine-month post-completion internship, allowing students hands-on experience at renowned hospitality establishments. Furthermore, both institutions are committed to providing 100% placement assistance, with recruitment opportunities available across the EU, US, and UK through partner hotels.
