Approximately 5000 primary school students in Uttar Pradesh will benefit from the initiative
First smart class inaugurated at Primary School Bhaja Kheda, Lucknow
Lucknow, 30 August 2025: Reinforcing its commitment to fostering future-ready skills among students, OPPO India has partnered with the Department of Basic Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh and UMMEED NGO to set up smart classrooms in 44 government primary schools across the state by March 2026. The programme will benefit approximately 5,000 students, providing them with access to technology-enabled learning environments.
The project aims to enhance the quality of education in primary schools through smart classrooms, ensuring access to new-age learning opportunities for all children, including those from underserved communities. As part of the initiative, over 80 teachers will also receive training to integrate technology into their teaching practices effectively. Motivational sessions for students and parents will also be held in selected schools.
To mark the occasion, the first smart classroom was inaugurated at Primary School, Bhaja Kheda, Lucknow, by Shri Deepak Kumar, Agriculture Production Commissioner, and Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Basic and Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Shri Awanish K Awasthi, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh; Shri Rakesh Bhardwaj, Director, OPPO India; Dr Roshan Jacob, IAS Divisional Commissioner and Competent Authority, Lucknow; along with other senior officials from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and UMMEED NGO.
Shri Deepak Kumar, Agriculture Production Commissioner, and Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Basic and Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh, commented, “The state government is making significant efforts in the education sector. Regular surveys, both government and non-government, are conducted, and this year the ASER reports have reflected growth in children’s learning levels. The ongoing NIPUN Bharat scheme has also shown very positive results. Smart Classes have played a major role in this progress, and efforts are underway to provide Smart Classes in all schools, enhancing children’s academic learning through ICT and peer learning. Under Operation Kayakalp, the government has placed high priority on infrastructure development to strengthen children’s learning levels. We thank OPPO India for providing 44 Smart Classes. With collective support, eligible schools will soon be equipped with Atal Tinkering Labs.”
This initiative will be implemented across five districts—Lucknow (10 schools), Ayodhya (10 schools), Varanasi (10 schools), Gorakhpur (8 schools), and Agra (6 schools). Students will gain access to computers, laptops, interactive smart TVs, curated digital content, dedicated digital classrooms, and other essential equipment for skill development.

This programme is designed to enhance learning by providing access to curated digital content in dedicated smart classrooms. The core curriculum is designed to cater to diverse learning needs, incorporating interactive and project-based approaches to enhance engagement and comprehension. The scheme ensures holistic student development by combining academic subjects with practical life skills.
