Peptides – The Next Big Trend in Skincare: Doctors Predict

Dermatologists flag peptide-based skincare solutions as the next big thing to gain popularity in India, especially among women post their 30s

MUMBAI / February 23, 2026: As the skincare mindset of the average Indian consumer sees a change in gear from harsh chemicals to gentle skincare, dermatologists predict peptide-infused skincare products to be the new rage in the market, particularly as anti-aging solutions for women post their 30s.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins like collagen, elastin, and keratin. When applied, they act as a link, telling the skin to perform functions such as boosting collagen production, strengthening the skin barrier, and supporting skin repair. Particularly, as people age, skincare concerns start to shift toward support, helping the skin repair itself efficiently, maintain resilience, and helping people age gracefully.

Dr. Smriti Naswa Singh, Consultant, Dermatology, Fortis Hospital Mulund, Mumbai, said, “Aging can be stressful in all regards, the skin being no exception. Around the 30s, the skin begins to lose some of its natural glow, and collagen production slows down, leading to fine lines and wrinkles. However, as skincare gains increased traction and more people are actively making themselves aware of the different functions of various chemicals and products available at their disposal, we are beginning to see new advancements in the industry. One such advancement is the introduction of peptides.”

“30-45-year-old women are the most note-worthy when it comes to the consumer group who are predicted to be taking up the trend. Women between 30 and 37 are largely focused on prevention and maintaining skin health. They are influenced by digital content and peer recommendations, open to lightweight, innovative formulations, and motivated by glow and early signs of aging. Meanwhile, women between 38 and 45 seek visible firmness and long-term results. They are more likely to prioritise sustained efficacy over trends,” added Dr. Rishi Parashar, Chairperson, Dermatology, Sir Gangaram Hospital.

India’s anti-aging landscape itself is undergoing transformation. Traditional corrective claims are gradually declining, while narratives around positive aging, slow aging, and longevity are rising. Brands are increasingly emphasising resilience, barrier repair, radiance and overall skin health, reflecting a consumer preference for sustainable results over quick fixes. Nearly 76% of consumers express their willingness to invest in safe, long-term anti-aging care. While 31% actively trust science-backed anti-aging solutions and 29% are open to credible new innovations.

“Consumers are not abandoning established actives such as retinoids or vitamin C, but they are increasingly looking for complementary approaches that deliver visible benefits with consistent tolerance. In this context, peptide-based formulations, particularly those that prioritise barrier health and resilience and fall under “purified” peptides, are well positioned to define the next phase of India’s anti-aging journey,” said Senior Consultant, Dermatology, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Dr. Sandeep Arora.

Dr. Logeshwari J, Consultant Dermatologist, Narayana Health City said, “Using purified peptides can be beneficial in a number of ways. As the skin’s natural repair mechanisms slow and fade, with barrier functions at risk, gentle and targeted ingredients like peptides can strengthen the skin. At the same time, they ensure visible and clear results. This new ‘hero’ ingredient will see a hype in the days to come because of its benefits of refining skin texture, which endures wear and tear with age, as well as improving skin elasticity and maintaining hydration. They also have the added advantage of catering to people with sensitive skin, minimizing irritation.”

Formulations powered by purified peptides represent the next step in refined, science-led anti-ageing care. Purified peptides are carefully stabilised and optimised chains of amino acids designed to deliver consistent performance while remaining gentle on the skin. Given the supportive and sustainable nature of this ingredient, peptide-based skincare products are predicted to pack the shelves for the remainder of 2026.
