– ‘Rang De Korea’ and ‘K-Harmony Festa’ to showcase the vibrancy of Korean culture in India’s Capital and Financial Hub
– From Seoul to Delhi: A Cultural Carnival of Music, Martial Arts & Dance on 11th October at Rang De Korea
– Seoul Street Comes to India: A Weekend of Korean Culture in Delhi and Mumbai
For the first time in New Delhi and Mumbai, Indian audiences will get a chance to step into Seoul’s most iconic backdrops, as the Korean Cultural Centre India brings the “Seoul Street” concept to these two cities this month. In two events that will be held back-to-back in India’s largest cities, Korean Cultural Centre India will host the fourth edition of “Rang De Korea”, the largest Korean cultural festival in India, at the Nexus Select CITYWALK Plaza in New Delhi, on October 11.
The following day, on October 12, it will organise the inaugural edition of “K-Harmony Festa” at Jio World Drive, South Sky, in Mumbai. It is for the first time that such a large-scale Korean cultural festival is being organised within a weekend at New Delhi, India’s National Capital, and Mumbai, India’s Financial Capital.
While Rang De Korea has already established itself as a premier annual platform for India–Korea cultural exchange in the National Capital, K-Harmony Festa marks the debut of a large-scale Korean cultural festival in Maharashtra. The event in Mumbai will be organised in association with Maharashtra Tourism. This will be the first instance of a major Korean event in Mumbai being organised by the Government of the Republic of Korea. The ‘K-Harmony Festa’ event is also expected to act as a gateway for Korean businesses looking to expand in India’s financial hub.
At both venues, one of the primary highlights of the event, will be the “Seoul Street” concept that aims to provide an opportunity to experience diverse Korean lifestyles and pop culture to the Indian audiences. Major Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics, Amorepacific, Orion, and Lotte will participate in both events, offering opportunities to experience their products and brands, and presenting a model for cultural cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Amorepacific will host 30-minute master classes on “K-Drama Natural Makeup” and “K-Pop Idol Makeup”, allowing Indian visitors to experience the sophisticated sensibilities of Korean beauty. Samsung Electronics will showcase a futuristic experience zone that combines cutting-edge technology and creative design, allowing visitors to experience innovative Korean technology culture. Furthermore, Lotte and Orion, representing Korea’s popular snack brands, will introduce beloved treats such as ‘Pepero’ and ‘Choco Pie’, offering a taste of Korea’s snack culture to Indian audiences.
The “Seoul Street” theme will have five specially designed zones that will offer an immersive glimpse into Korea. These zones include, Myeongdong, a popular shopping street; Bukchon Hanok Village, an area where traditional ‘hanok’ houses are preserved intact; Jongno Food Alley, a popular gathering spot to enjoy K-food and snacks; Hangang Park, a popular river-side recreational spot for the locals in Seoul; and Gangneung, which is famous for its BTS bus stop. The cultural performances to be showcased during the event also highlight the rich cultural diversity of Korea – from Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team to S-Flava, a fusion group combining Korean traditional music and b-boying; a Korean traditional dance performance team; and high-energy performances by the eight-member K-pop boy group ‘Younite’. Additionally, ‘Younite’ will also hold a special fan meeting, offering Indian audiences a chance to engage with them up close.
Hwang Il Yong, Director of Korean Cultural Center India, said, “Hallyu has now become a mainstream cultural phenomenon among India’s young generation, and the markets for Korean products such as K-beauty and K-food are growing rapidly. Through these festivals, we hope to further expand Korea–India cultural exchange and foster a stronger foundation for Korean companies’ activities in India, while also deepening mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.”
