Reflektionz, a Cultural Fest for Intercollegiate Optometry, Brings Together 355 Students.

Fest at Sankara College of Optometry, sees students across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Telangana

Bangalore, April 16, 2024: Sankara College of Optometry, Bangalore hosted ‘Reflektionz’, a National Intercollegiate Cultural Festival at the Sankara Eye Hospital Campus. A total of 355 students from optometry colleges across Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nādu & Puducherry have participated in the festival.

Themed ‘Multiculture’, to rekindle the joy of imagination among the participants, the 11th Year of Reflektionz, through the 2-day event provided 355 students with a platform to showcase their talent through 17 literary, cultural and performing arts events across 4 stages.

Their contribution has enabled us to provide a platform for students to showcase their skills and express their unique voices, thereby fostering a vibrant atmosphere of cultural exchange and learning.

Dr Renu M, Vitreoretinal surgeon & Ocular oncologist encourage the students by sharing her words, that “success is not only about academic or professional accomplishments. It is about having the resilience to face challenges and the courage to dream big”. She also mentions that “success is not a destination, it’s a journey. It’s essential to make every moment count, believe in yourself, believe in your abilities, and never give up”.

Professor Aditya Goyal, Principal, Sankara College of Optometry said, “We have been pleasantly surprised by the enthusiastic response to the event. Students from different states have added much-needed vibrancy to the proceedings. We feel that this edition has reignited the pride of being Indian and brought a greater sense of harmony and brotherhood. This intercollegiate optometry festival has provided a real-life learning platform for our students who were involved in the planning and execution of the event.

At the inaugural of the festival Mr Kuberan, Chair of YUVA vertical, CII Young Indians, shared, “Students need to participate in extracurricular activities which will help build their confidence and career. Added by saying winning is not the ultimate goal rather these variety of cultural events bring out the creative energy in the students.”

The valedictory function had Ms. Poornima Sankar, Founder of Suryaforlife and Bharatanatyam Artist, who shared her journey of college time where she participated in such extracurricular activities, helped her follow her passion and choose her profession as Bharatnatyam artist. Another chief guest Dr. Hiral Divyansh, Occupational Therapist & Founder of Rise & Shine, encouraged students with her motivating speech. Professor Aditya Goyal handed over the rolling trophy to Nethradhama School of Optometry, Bangalore as the perfect curtain downer for the event. Dates for the next Reflektionz 2025 were announced as the 25th and 26th of April.
