Russian cinema will be presented in India at the FILM BAZAAR 2023 film market

Among the new content from the Russian film industry are the Russian-Indian documentary “Low Tide”, “Hoffmann’s Fairy Tales”, “Major Grom: The Game”, , “Anna’s Feelings”, the series “Librarian” and more than 40 films, TV series, and animations. The project “Filming Locations in Russia” with the participation of regional film commissions will also be presented at FILM BAZAAR 2023

From November 20 to 24, the largest content market in South Asia, FILM BAZAAR, will be held in Goa, India as part of the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). ROSKINO, a Russian film promotion body, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, is organizing two stands at the film market: “Russian Content Worldwide” —the umbrella brand of the Russian film industry, and “Filming Locations in Russia”.

The Russian Content Worldwide stand will bring together 11 Russian film and animation companies: Art Pictures Distribution, Planeta Inform Film Distribution, Bubble Studios, KIT Film Studio, Igmar, Media-Telecom, Pan-Atlantic Studio, Dream Film company, Association of Women Film Producers, Voronezh animation studio, and Riki Group.

Last year, participation in FILM BAZAAR was the first large-scale entry of the Russian film industry into the Indian film market. The results included a number of projects being sold (including the sci-fi “Reversible Reality” to China). Another popular request from buyers was the purchase of rights to adapt Russian projects.

This year, companies will strengthen ties with the film market in India and other Asian countries. Among the new products that the Russian industry will bring to FILM BAZAAR are action films, sports dramas, comedies, documentaries, and animation—more than 45 projects in total.

As part of a special showcase, international buyers will be presented with the Russian-Indian documentary about Indian salt field workers Low Tide (KIT Film Studio), a new film from the Major Grom cinematic universe Major Grom: The Game (Bubble Studios); the series Librarian (Art Pictures Distribution); the fantasy drama Anna’s Feelings (Planeta Inform); ; the sports drama Within the Flow of Three Elements (Dream Film company); the comedy drama The Liar (Association of Women Film Producers); the drama The Temple (Igmar); the series Die Gracefully (Media-Telecom); and a number of animation projects—the full-length film Arctic Heroes (Voronezh animation studio) and the animated series Beardy Bodo (Riki). Another participant in the showcase is the film Hoffmann’s Fairy Tales (Pan-Atlantic Studio), which is the only Russian film included in the Main Competition of the 54th 54th International Film Festival of India IFFI (November 20–28).

The “Filming Locations in Russia” stand will present the variety of film locations in Russian regions. The stand will be attended by representatives of different regions of the country—the Film Commission of the Kaliningrad Region, the Center for Support and Development of Cinematography of the Khabarovsk, the location search company in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, and Location 360. Other regions will also be represented.

“Filming Locations in Russia” was implemented this year by ROSKINO with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The mission of the project is to open Russia to the international film industry community. India was the first country whose representatives participated in the project: in April, a group of Indian producers visited Moscow, the Moscow region, and Sochi. In total, ROSKINO has organized seven film location tours for producers from India, South Korea, China, Iran, Kenya, and CIS countries. Before the end of the year, two more visits are planned by representatives of Serbia, Iran, Mozambique, and South Africa.
