Mumbai, 10.05.2024: S. L. Raheja Hospital, Mahim – A Fortis Associate recently partnered with the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine to organize 8th Annual Mechanical Ventilation Workshop, on April 27th 2024, in Mumbai.
A total of 120 delegates from Mumbai attended the day-long workshop, which was specifically designed for ICU doctors, respiratory therapists, ICU nurses, and trainee doctors. The workshop covered practical aspects of basics of mechanical ventilation and ventilating techniques for patients with different conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Status Asthmaticus, and head injury.
This academic workshop demonstrated live process of using ventilators on goat lung specimens to provide insights on how the lungs work during various stages of mechanical ventilation. The participants were also educated about the use of artificial intelligence in mechanical ventilation, on lab models, which would make ventilation safer and more efficient. Delegates were also taught the optimal way of ventilating patients by way of computer-generated simulations and scenarios. They were introduced to various patient interfaces designed to enhance the non-invasive ventilation procedures.
