SERA and Space India Announce Strategic Partnership to Inspire the Next Generation of Space Enthusiasts in India

Bengaluru, February 20, 2025 – The Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA), a pioneering human spaceflight organization, and Space Technology and Education Pvt. Ltd (SPACE India) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on expanding awareness and participation in SERA’s upcoming human spaceflight program.

Previously, SERA, in collaboration with Blue Origin, announced India as a partner nation for its human spaceflight program, which targets citizens from countries that have historically lacked access to space. As a US-based agency, SERA offered the global public six seats on its next mission aboard New Shepard, Blue Origin’s reusable suborbital rocket.

Through this partnership, SPACE India has been designated as SERA’s official Outreach Partner in India, with a focus on engaging students and young professionals. Leveraging SPACE India’s extensive network of over 1,000 schools and 1.5 million students, the collaboration aims to foster greater interest in space sciences, cutting-edge research, and real-world applications of space technologies.

“India is home to some of the brightest minds in science and technology, and this partnership with Space India is an important step in ensuring that students and aspiring space professionals in India have greater access to opportunities in the global space ecosystem,” said Sam Hutchison, Co-Founder of SERA. “By combining SERA’s human spaceflight expertise with Space India’s established outreach programs, we are creating a platform that will inspire the next generation of space pioneers.”

Under the MoU, SERA and SPACE India will collaborate on several key initiatives aimed at engaging young audiences across India by promoting SERA’s space missions, science experiments, and other activities. They will organize events, workshops, and online campaigns to generate excitement and participation in space exploration. The partnership will also focus on creating knowledge-sharing opportunities between students, educators, and space industry experts through industry and academic collaborations.

“SERA is excited to collaborate with Indian entities to reach a wider audience and democratize access to space and space research. By engaging students and young minds, we aim to deepen their understanding of space exploration, inspire scientific curiosity, and cultivate the research acumen needed to tackle global challenges. This partnership will play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of space leaders who will contribute to the betterment of society and drive innovation for the greater good,” said Joshua Skurla, Co-Founder of SERA.

“Space India has always been committed to making space education accessible and engaging for students. This collaboration with SERA allows us to bring global spaceflight experiences closer to Indian youth, enabling them to dream bigger and explore new frontiers,” said Dr. Sachin Bahmba, Founder & CEO of SPACE India.

As part of the agreement, Space India will promote SERA’s upcoming mission, encourage student participation in SERA’s science experiments, and help amplify space research initiatives in India.
