Shyama Charan Gupta

Shyama Charan Gupta is an Indian politician belonging to the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and a Member of Parliament (MP) from Lok Sabha. He is also an entreprenuer; the founder and Chief Managing Director (CMD) of Shyam Group, an ISO 9001 : 2008 Certified Company. Shyama Charan Gupta is an exemplary leader who has achieved success in both the political mainstream and the business world. He has a passion for excellence as well as a far sighted vision, which have enabled him to achieve success in life. A down to earth person, Shyama Charan Gupta ascribes his fruitful life to his belief in sound traditional values and focus on high ethical standards. Early Life and Education

Shyama Charan Gupta was born in Unchadih, District Chitrakoot (Uttar Pradesh) on February 9, 1945 to Tirath Prasad Gupta and Tijia Devi. His academic qualifications include B.A, LL.B. and he has received his education at B.S.S.D. College, Kanpur and Lucknow University (Uttar Pradesh). Shyama Charan Gupta married Jamnotri Gupta on February 4, 1967.

Entrepreneurial Journey

In the 1970s, Shyama Charan Gupta was an enterprising young man with dreams to make his mark in the world. His family was into the business of trading Tendu leaves, which are used to make bidis. Shyama Charan Gupta had the visionary foresight to realize the vast potential that existed beyond the mere trading of Tendu leaves. With a detailed plan in mind and aided by his sharp business acumen, Shyama Charan Gupta established a small bidi manufacturing unit in 1973. Over the years, he transformed his humble beginnings into a large business empire comprising various successful companies, specializing in diverse fields. Shyam Group is active in various industry sectors such as tobacco, warehousing, hospitality, FMCG, logistics, dairy and real estate.

Political Career

Shyama Charan Gupta’s political journey has been littered with various challenges, but he has always emerged a winner due to his sheer dedication and by utilizing his sharp mind.

1989-1993: Mayor, Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh)

2004: Elected to 14th Lok Sabha

May, 2014: Re-elected to 16th Lok Sabha (2nd term)

Shyama Charan Gupta is actively engaged in social service through his NGO Shyam Seva Trust.
