SIFF 2026 Opens with Grand Red Carpet in Gangtok; CM Prem Singh Tamang Hosts Dinner for Delegates

New Delhi, March 20: The inaugural edition of the Sikkim International Film Festival (SIFF) 2026 commenced on a vibrant note in the state capital, with Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang walking the red carpet alongside eminent personalities from the film fraternity and cultural sphere.

Organised by the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), the four-day festival from March 19 to 22 aims to bring diverse cinematic narratives to audiences while promoting local storytelling and creative industries.

The red carpet turned into a vibrant confluence of filmmakers, actors, cultural ambassadors, artists, and industry professionals from across India and abroad. The evening witnessed a striking showcase of fashion and cinematic identity, with guests arriving in an elegant blend of traditional attire and contemporary couture, reflecting both regional heritage and global aesthetics. Flashbulbs lit up the venue as moments of poise, glamour, and individuality were captured throughout the evening.

Emerging talents shared the spotlight with established names, symbolising the festival’s inclusive vision of promoting new voices alongside seasoned artists. The festival has drawn participation from international delegates and artists, reinforcing the state’s rising stature as a global cultural destination. The evening stood as a testament to Sikkim’s evolving identity—not just as a scenic destination, but as a dynamic centre for art, cinema, and cultural exchange.
