Mumbai, 11 March 2026: Smt. Suparna Tandon, Chief Executive Officer of the National Pension System Trust, participated in a fireside chat titled “Pension Capital Meets Private Markets: The NPS–AIF Opportunity” with Padmanabh (Paddy) Sinha, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Launchbay, at the IVCA Conclave 2026, engaging with regulators, investors, policymakers, and industry leaders on the critical role of pension capital and retirement systems in India’s long-term savings and investment ecosystem.
In her address, Tandon highlighted the growing importance of expanding pension coverage and strengthening governance frameworks within retirement systems in supporting financial security for all segments of society. She also spoke about how digital innovation and subscriber‑centric approaches are improving accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in pension fund administration.
“Following the regulatory change, what has happened is the A category scheme has been dismantled and it has been merged with the equity and the corporate bond scheme, so now we have 1% of the government Assets Under Management (AUM) and up to 5% of the non-government AUM available for this universe,” she said.
She also noted that collaboration between the public and private sectors, combined with robust risk management and investor protection, will be key to deepening the retirement investment landscape and contributing to the development of India’s broader capital market.
“We are here to enable long-term subscriber returns, risk-adjusted returns for us. AIF is another means of diversification. Governance is something which is most important for us, because if you see the name NPS Trust, the subscriber’s money we hold in trust, so we have to put in place transparent governance standards and institutional processes,” Tandon added.
The IVCA Conclave, now in its 15th edition, is IVCA’s flagship platform for the alternate asset industry, bringing together industry leaders and stakeholders to deliberate on the themes shaping the alternate capital ecosystem in India.
