The best way to learn during college is by building things: Content Creator Deepak Pareek

“You know what you should be doing if you’re in college? Start building things. If you want to and you can start a business. You will learn much more by doing so than sitting inside college”, said the Content Creator & Entrepreneur Deepak Pareek at AIESEC Youth Speak Forum organized by AIESEC in Mumbai. The event witnessed speakers from various domains and every speaker shared their thoughts on topics like becoming a CEO, investing while you’re young, to personal branding and marketing psychology.

Deepak Pareek was the rkeynote speake at the event and he spoke about personal branding and the power of branding in general. “What’s the first thing that comes to mind when I say Nike?” asked Deepak to which the audience members responded, “Shoes!”, “Expensive!”, “Apparel”, “Jordans” etc. Now similarly when Deepak asked what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Virat Kohli to which the audience responded, “Captain”, “Run Machine”, “King Kohli”, etc. The point being, because these are the first few things that come to mind when you hear the word, that’s his/her personal brand.

Deepak Pareek, who is an Entrepreneur, Content Creator, TEDx Speaker, and Creative Film Producer hailing from Kolkata and now based in Mumbai, India, also talked about how one can build a brand and shared some of his anecdotes regarding marketing psychology. For example, he talked about the Redbull Trash Can Strategy and Domino’s Paving for Pizza campaign. The students found it very insightful and were able to relate to what was being talked about. He also asked one question to the audience, “How often do you actually purchase a product just because you see your favorite actor endorsing it?” to which someone said, “I would not buy it for the sake of it” whereas someone else said, “I would totally buy it because I am a fan of the actor”. The forum was open to debate and what followed was a healthy discussion.

“How can you build your personal brand effectively?” was one of the questions that Deepak was asked to which he said, “You have to start building first. You have to start putting out the content first. If you don’t put out content in good quantity, the audience does not have enough social proof of what you’re capable of”.

The keynote session ended on a good note and Deepak Pareek was felicitated by the core committee members of AIESEC in Mumbai. Deepak also had an informal chat with the audience members after his speech. Some of the other speakers were Mr. Harshil Karia, founder of Schbang, Mr. Mikhil Innani, founder of Apollo Finvest, Mr. Nilesh Shah, MD of Kotak MF, and Mr. Kuntal Joisher, the first vegan to climb Mount Everest.
