- Shri Doval was addressing the Chartered Accountants’ community at an event organised by the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society.
- The event featured a lecture titled “Ancient Roots, Global Routes Reimagining Global Leadership for the Indian CA”.
Mumbai, January 23rd 2026: Speaking at the event hosted by Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society (BCAS), Shri CA Shaurya Doval highlighted that over the last decade India’s assertion as a global power has become increasingly visible across international platforms. Whether it is India’s pursuit of a permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council or its independent positions on global public forums, India is today recognised as a key geopolitical player. He noted that India’s influence is felt across South Asia, Africa, West Asia and increasingly even in Europe. He further stated that India is also emerging as a major economic power, now positioned as the fourth largest economy globally.
Looking ahead, Shri Doval asserted that India’s hard power will increasingly be defined by its ability to export intellect of a different kind. While India has historically exported intellectual talent, he said the future lies in exporting Indian intellect itself. He pointed to early global acceptance of yoga and Ayurveda as examples of how India’s intellectual traditions have resonated worldwide. As India projects itself more clearly and communicates its message more effectively, he said the world will increasingly benefit from India’s intellectual contributions and recognise India as a Vishwaguru. With advancements in technology, economic scale and intellectual capability, India’s growing hard power is already acknowledged globally. By harnessing its professional and knowledge capital, India can shape global systems with responsibility rather than dominance.
The session focused on how Chartered Accountants must navigate a rapidly evolving international economic and financial landscape while remaining anchored to core principles. Discussions centred on ethical leadership and value based decision making as essential foundations for developing future leaders in the global economy.
In his opening remarks CA Zubin Billimoria, President of BCAS, said, “Sessions like these create an important platform for learning, dialogue and collective thinking for the community. By bringing together diverse perspectives and experienced leaders, they enable Chartered Accountants to reflect, learn and prepare for the evolving demands of leadership in a global economy. Such engagements strengthen both our professional community and the broader exchange of ideas.”
BCAS has put together a unique opportunity for attendees, a guided tour of the Jyot Foundation Exhibition “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Ki Oar 4: The 12 Principles That Can Shape a New World Order,” designed to provide attendees with an expanded cultural and philosophical understanding of the Global Leadership dialogue.
Founded over seven decades ago, BCAS has played a key role in the development of the Chartered Accountancy profession in India, going beyond technical education to support discussions on leadership, governance, and professional ethics. Through its lectures, conclaves, publications, and policy engagement, the Society has contributed to informed dialogue on taxation, regulation, corporate governance, and the evolving role of Chartered Accountants. Initiatives such as this session reflect BCAS’ continued focus on preparing members for a professional environment that requires sound judgment, ethical conduct, and a broader global outlook.
The event concluded with interactions and networking among participants, underscoring BCAS’ focus on professional development and leadership preparedness within the Chartered Accountancy fraternity.
