Niyo awards Rs 5,00,000 worth of scholarship to 10 students as a part of ‘Fly with Niyo’ initiative
Bengaluru, 23rd September 2025: Niyo, India’s pioneering travel-fintech platform that has transformed cross-border payments and travel banking for over two million outbound Indian travellers, has announced the winners of its “Fly with Niyo – Student Flight Ticket Scholarship”. Ten students heading to universities across the UK, Ireland, Germany, South Africa, the USA, and other countries have each been awarded free one-way international flight tickets, collectively worth ₹5,00,000.
The scholarship is a continuation of Niyo’s student-first vision of being the go-to financial and travel partner for Indian students pursuing higher education abroad. Today, over 5 lakh Indian students studying across 20+ countries trust Niyo for their study-abroad journey. Notably, the student cohort now makes up 25% of Niyo’s total customer base, growing faster than the overall study-abroad segment. Tier-II and Tier-III cities contribute a quarter of all new applications, reflecting rising student mobility and financial awareness beyond metros.
This year, Niyo saw a 30% surge in adoption of its zero-forex markup cards, with students increasingly using them even before departure for paying university fees, visa charges, accommodation bookings, and more. On average, each student transacts nearly USD 5,000 prior to travelling abroad, cementing Niyo’s role as a trusted partner at every stage of the student journey.
In August 2025, Niyo launched its Premium Student Plan, designed as a holistic support system for students and their parents. The plan combines smart financial tools with practical lifestyle benefits, including zero-forex markup cards, free ATM withdrawals abroad, zero convenience fees on flight bookings, and complimentary eSIMs to help students stay connected from the moment they land.
Speaking on the initiative, Smriti Advani, Vice President, Brand Marketing & PR, Niyo, said: “Over five lakh Indian students already trust Niyo to make their education abroad simpler and more affordable. We believe financial barriers should never hold back a student’s ambitions, and Fly with Niyo is our way of going a step further – removing the very first hurdle of travel and giving students a confident start to their global journey. This initiative is a reflection of our commitment to empowering young Indians as they step onto the world stage.”
Evolving from India’s first zero-forex markup card provider, Niyo is today a full-stack travel and banking platform for international travellers. Beyond forex cards, its services include forex cash, outward remittances, flight and hotel bookings, visa assistance, travel insurance, and eSIMs helping them save significantly while enjoying a seamless global travel and financial experience.
With initiatives like “Fly with Niyo,” the company continues to strengthen its vision of becoming the most trusted financial and travel partner for Indian students pursuing global education.
