University of East Anglia, UK launches MSc in Global Public Health

A new interdisciplinary programme launching in September 2025 prepares graduates to lead in health policy, research, and sustainable global health initiatives

New Delhi, 14 April 2025: University of East Anglia, one of the UK’s top 30 universities, today announced its new MSc in Global Public Health programme commencing in September 2025. This is a full-time, one-year postgraduate programme designed to prepare the next generation of public health professionals to address urgent global public health challenges through evidence-based policy and interdisciplinary practice.

MSc Global Public Health is ideal for graduates who are passionate about health outcomes worldwide. Located in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the programme uniquely blends public health principles and practice, with insights from international development, and environmental science. Students will dive deep into global public health case studies, apply cutting-edge research, and explore key themes such as health equity, migration, and the impact of climate change on public health.

The curriculum replaces the standard dissertation with an innovative Extended Project, focusing on applied learning and real-world impact to elevate students’ employability. This innovative structure enables students to tackle complex health challenges head-on, which are practical skills vital for careers in global health policy and practice.

Alongside academics and professionals from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, students will also benefit from access to UEA’s world-class research centres, including the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and the Norwich Institute for Sustainable Development. These institutions will provide rich opportunities to engage in pioneering research and contribute to impactful global health solutions.

With a wide array of optional modules, students can tailor their studies to their professional goals—whether in public health agencies, international NGOs, global research institutes, or advisory roles within government.

Speaking on the launch of the new programme, Christopher Burton, Dean of Health Sciences, University of East Anglia said, “Public health plays a crucial role in tackling some of the most pressing challenges that the world is facing today. At UEA, we’re dedicated to equipping the next generation of global health leaders with the tools they need through a blend of interdisciplinary education, hands-on experience, and cutting-edge research. This MSc programme is crafted to ensure that our graduates possess the skills, confidence, and critical thinking necessary to drive improvements in public health on a global level.”
