Flagship program engages over 11,600 engineering students nationwide, fostering industry-ready innovation across banking, healthcare & life sciences, telecom, and education domains.
Mumbai / Bengaluru, India, 16th October 2025: Virtusa Corporation, a global leader in digital strategy, digital engineering, and IT services and solutions, guided by its purpose of making experiences better with technology, successfully concluded the fourth edition of its flagship Jatayu Ideathon Program. The initiative reflects Virtusa’s commitment to nurturing next-generation talent and advancing innovation in emerging technologies.
The 2025 edition centered on the transformative potential of Generative AI (genAI). Students were challenged to apply genAI to 14 real-world problem statements across domains including banking, healthcare & life sciences, telecom, and education. Seven business units supported the initiative by framing industry-relevant challenges. In the education track, teams developed AI-based tools to help educators streamline workflows and improve learning outcomes.
AP Shah Institute of Technology emerged as the winner with their solution on AI quiz, followed by Sreenidhi Institute of Technology and Science with their project on Leveraging genAl for Sybase to Oracle Migration. The third position went to Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, recognized for their innovative approach to Edge AI.
Participation this year was exceptional, with over 11,600 students from 75 leading engineering colleges nationwide forming more than 2,300 teams. After three competitive rounds, finalist teams presented their ideas at the Grand Finale, demonstrating innovation at scale and the ability to translate classroom learning into industry-ready prototypes.
Winning teams were recognized with full-time employment offers at Virtusa along with cash prizes, while runner-up teams were awarded cash prizes. Throughout the competition, Virtusa experts mentored the students, helping them refine ideas into industry-ready solutions.
Venkatesan Vijayaraghavan, Chief Operating Officer at Virtusa, said, “Jatayu Season 4 has been a remarkable celebration of innovation, collaboration, and the transformative power of Generative AI. This year’s theme highlighted how AI can redefine problem-solving, inspire creativity, and drive meaningful impact in the real world.
