Zigly Foundation Collaborates with Students to Enhance Community Dog Welfare Through Comprehensive Initiatives in Delhi

  • Ziglers Lead Multiple Welfare Drives Across Delhi-NCR, Improving Safety, Health, and Well-Being of Community Dogs

New Delhi, May 22nd, 2025: Zigly Foundation continues to make significant strides in improving the lives of community dogs across Delhi-NCR through its diverse range of initiatives, actively supported by its passionate volunteers, the Ziglers. The foundation’s ongoing efforts include essential programs focused on safety, health, and education, aimed at bettering the lives of community animals in various neighbourhoods.

Recently, Zigly Foundation collaborated with the Enactus Society of Shyamalal College for a Reflective Collar Drive in Connaught Place, Delhi, where over 50 community dogs were fitted with reflective collars to enhance their visibility and safety, especially during night-time. This initiative is part of a broader mission to create safer and more compassionate communities for both animals and humans.

In addition to this drive, Zigly Foundation’s Ziglers have been working tirelessly across various localities in Delhi to address the health and welfare of community dogs. From daily feeding drives that provide essential nourishment to over 50 dogs, to vaccination and deworming initiatives aimed at preventing the spread of diseases, the foundation’s volunteers are making a tangible difference. These efforts are complemented by educational sessions in neighbourhoods, teaching residents about how to peacefully coexist with street animals and the importance of proper care and empathy toward them.

One such initiative was a Vaccination Drive in West Patel Nagar, where Ziglers vaccinated 40 community dogs against preventable diseases. Additionally, a Rabies and Parvo Vaccination Drive at Aravalli Apartments, Kalkaji saw 25 community dogs receive vital vaccinations, with an accompanying awareness session for residents on animal welfare.

“Our Ziglers are at the heart of everything we do,” said Ms. Yamini Jaipuria, Managing Trustee, Zigly Foundation“Through their hard work, we’re not only addressing immediate needs like feeding and vaccinations, but we’re also fostering a culture of empathy and respect for animals, which is crucial for the future of animal welfare in our cities.”

The Zigler – Youth for Paws program, which has reached over 6,000 students across 15 colleges in Delhi-NCR, continues to be a beacon of hope for community animals. More than 300 active Ziglers are working on the ground, engaging in daily welfare activities, such as feeding drives, rescues, facilitating adoptions, and educating their communities about responsible pet ownership and animal rights.

“We are proud of the collective effort that our Ziglers have put into these programs,” Ms. Jaipuria continued. “Their involvement in various animal welfare initiatives helps ensure that our mission to improve the lives of community dogs continues to grow.”

Through these extensive programs, Zigly Foundation is not only addressing the immediate needs of street animals but also creating a long-lasting change by engaging young people and communities in animal welfare, ensuring a better future for Delhi’s community animals.
