Samarpan Recovery Hosts Transformative Trauma Training Workshop with UK Expert Lou Lebentz at Mulshi, Pune

Mumbai, August 13th 2025: In a powerful stride towards deepening trauma-informed care in India, Samarpan Recovery,  known for its international-standard rehabilitation and wellness care centre, hosted a transformative workshop rom Tuesday, 22nd July to Thursday, 24th July with globally acclaimed trauma specialist Lou Lebentz at its serene Mulshi campus near Pune. An internationally recognised speaker, trainer, and therapist with over two decades of experience, Lou is the founder of The Voyage®️ Professional Training Suite, a pioneering trauma education platform rooted in neuroscience, somatic healing, and compassionate communication.

The training took place at Samarpan Rehabilitation Centre, Mulshi, and witnessed full participation from both the rehabilitation and outpatient clinic (OPC) teams, who were present on-site throughout the duration. The Essentials Training was attended by all Samarpan staff, while the TAPT (Trauma-Aware Professional Training) module was specifically designed for all Samarpan clinicians.

Known for her deeply engaging style and practical approach, Lou has trained clinicians, therapists, and organisations across the world, making trauma awareness both accessible and actionable. The immersive workshop introduced participants to her signature Essentials and TAPT (Trauma-Aware Professional Training) modules and guided them through powerful frameworks and hands-on exercises that moved beyond theory, challenging them to reimagine care through the lens of empathy, regulation, and relational connection. Through case discussions, somatic exercises, and interactive dialogue, participants explored the impact of trauma on the brain and behaviour, and how to support clients with greater sensitivity and presence.

“Trauma is often the invisible thread running through many mental health and addiction issues. Without recognising this, we risk treating symptoms without addressing the root causes. In a setting like Samarpan, where clients are seeking profound transformation, trauma-informed care ensures that staff not only provide excellent clinical support but also create a deeply compassionate and understanding environment,” said Lou Lebentz, internationally recognised speaker, trainer, therapist and founder of The Voyage®️ Professional Training Suite

The workshop also challenged common misconceptions about trauma, emphasising that it’s not limited to extreme events like violence or abuse. Instead, trauma was presented as any experience that overwhelms an individual’s capacity to cope, making it a universal and often overlooked component in both mental health and addiction recovery.

Talking about the workshop  Martin Peters, Chief Operating Officer. said, “As an international standard mental health and addiction treatment provider in India, we are committed to providing the very best training opportunities for our staff. The training that has been provided over the last week, is a move away from the old outdated approaches to addiction treatment and aligning more with the modern approaches that are being implemented in leading organisations across the globe. These best practices will ultimately improve service delivery, outcomes and break stigmas of how treatment is delivered.”

“Welcoming Lou Lebentz to Samarpan was more than an event—it was a turning point. Her training deepened our collective understanding of trauma and reaffirmed our commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed care. At Samarpan, we believe that healing begins with awareness, and Lou’s work has helped us take another meaningful step toward becoming truly trauma-informed in everything we do.” said Obi Unaka, Chief Clinical Officer, Samarpan Recovery

With over 90 years of combined international experience, Samarpan continues to set new benchmarks in holistic mental health and addiction treatment. The workshop marks yet another milestone in its mission to build clinical excellence through global collaboration, professional development, and deeply human care.
