American Oncology Institute (AOI) Jalandhar Successfully Treated 53-Year-old Female Diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma – Follicular Lymphoma

Marks a 5-Year Cancer Remission Milestone Achieved with a Personalized Approach

Jalandhar, May 23, 2024 – American Oncology Institute (AOI) in Jalandhar successfully treated a 53-year-old resilient individual diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma – Follicular Lymphoma (FL).

FL is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). NHL is a cancer of the lymphatic system. FL develops when the body makes abnormal B lymphocytes. These lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that normally helps to fight infections. When one has a lymphoma, the abnormal lymphocytes build up in the lymph nodes or other body organs.

Mrs. Kaur initially in 2019 was presented with significant weight loss of 15 kg over three months, accompanied by decreased appetite and abdominal fullness. The medical team at AOI conducted a comprehensive evaluation, revealing a challenging scenario with an emaciated appearance, reduced muscle mass, and concerning findings on CT abdomen.

Dr. Burhan Wani, Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist, AOI Jalandhar remarked, ” The success achieved in Mrs. Kaur’s case underscores the importance of tailored cancer management. The initial presentation was indicative of a complex situation, emphasizing the importance of thorough evaluation in cancer care. The diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma – Follicular lymphoma prompted a customized treatment plan, highlighting the significance of personalized cancer management.”

The treatment journey involved chemo-targeted therapy, with an interim PET CT after three months showing remarkable improvement. Mrs. Kaur completed a total of six cycles of chemo-targeted therapy, followed by maintenance targeted therapy for two years. Serial PET scans consistently revealed the disease in remission.

Dr Neeraj, Regional Chief Operating Officer (RCOO) of AOI, Jalandhar stated, “Mrs. Kaur’s journey reflects the transformative impact of individualized cancer management. AOI remains dedicated to advancing the field, ensuring that every patient receives the most effective and tailored care,”

Now celebrating five years since the initial diagnosis, Mrs. Kaur has not only regained her weight but is also leading a high-quality life with her family. Her journey showcases the importance of considering various aspects of disease evaluation, including imaging, histopathology, and molecular reports, to craft an effective and personalized treatment plan.

This success story reinforces AOI’s commitment to advancing cancer care through personalized precision medicine, providing hope and transformative outcomes for individuals facing complex cancer diagnoses.
