Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Group, said, “Acute stroke remains a significant cause of disability and mortality globally. Conferences like STAT-2025 play a pivotal role in transforming stroke care by facilitating the exchange of revolutionary ideas, techniques, and experiences among global leaders. At Apollo, we strive to stay at the forefront of medical innovation to ensure every patient receives rapid, efficient, and effective stroke treatment. Our mission is not merely to save lives but also to ensure the quality of life for stroke survivors.”

Mr. V Tejesvi Rao, CEO, Telangana Region, Apollo Hospitals, said “At Apollo Hospitals, we remain committed to advancing acute stroke care through innovation and expertise. The STAT-2025 Conference serves as a crucial platform to bring together global and national experts to discuss ground-breaking advancements in Stroke Thrombolysis and Thrombectomy, ultimately improving patient outcomes.”

Dr. Ravindra Babu, Director Medical Services, Telangana Region, Apollo Hospitals, said “Timely intervention is critical in stroke management, and the STAT-2025 Conference aims to enhance awareness and clinical expertise in this field. By fostering discussions on the latest treatments and technologies, we strive to set new benchmarks in acute stroke care and ensure better recovery prospects for patients.

The conference featured insightful keynote speeches, interactive sessions, debates on clinical controversies, and detailed workshops designed to equip attendees with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.

The first day’s sessions saw discussions on stroke epidemiology, highlighting the changing demographics of stroke in India and emphasizing the importance of prehospital care to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Sudhir Kumar and Dr. Subhash Kaul elaborated on large vessel strokes, stressing their relevance, prevalence, and early prediction techniques.

A particularly compelling session focused on imaging, introducing participants to essential parenchymal and vascular imaging methodologies, as well as advanced imaging techniques including CT/MRI perfusion and artificial intelligence-driven algorithms. Speakers debated the necessity of perfusion imaging versus basic imaging, concluding that tailored approaches might offer optimal outcomes based on patient-specific contexts.

In a session titled “Thrombolysis & Beyond,” speakers including Dr. Marc Ribo presented latest updates and debated extending intravenous thrombolysis beyond established guidelines, exploring novel therapeutic agents and their potential roles in treating acute stroke patients.

Other discussions on the predictive factors influencing reperfusion and patient outcomes, generating lively interaction among the attendees.

Dr. Sangita Reddy added, “Innovation in stroke care demands courage, clinical judgment, and rigorous research. We are seeing therapies evolve rapidly, often challenging traditional guidelines. Apollo Hospitals remains deeply invested in not just following established paths, but also forging new ones—guided by evidence, compassion, and clinical excellence.”

The second day focused extensively on practical workshops under the theme “Mastering Thrombectomy,” emphasizing acute stroke evaluation and optimal use of mechanical thrombectomy (MT). Sessions provided participants hands-on insights into stroke triage systems, essential stroke scales, and rapid hospital-based evaluation methods.

A series of detailed technical sessions were conducted to explain thrombectomy devices, procedural techniques, and recent advances in thrombectomy hardware. The attendees benefited significantly from comprehensive discussions by international experts such as Dr. Marios Psychogios, who covered both fundamental and complex approaches, including ADAPT (A Direct Aspiration First Pass Technique), combined methods, and stent-retriever techniques.

The interactive “How I Do It?” sessions provided practical insights into tailored approaches for thrombectomy, with experts detailing case-specific strategies that optimize patient outcomes. Sessions on perioperative management addressed crucial concerns such as anaesthesia choices between general and conscious sedation, as well as optimal blood pressure control post-thrombectomy.

The conference notably tackled emerging challenges like distal medium vessel occlusions (DMVO), interventions for basilar artery occlusions, and thrombectomy beyond the standard

24-hour treatment window. These sessions saw discussions about evidence-based versus experience-driven clinical decisions.

Dr. Suresh Giragani, the organizing secretary and course convenor, highlighted the significance of addressing these evolving clinical scenarios, “As stroke care evolves, clinicians must adapt rapidly to emerging evidence. STAT-2025 aims to bridge the gap between evidence and practice, allowing us to embrace innovative strates that improve patient outcomes, especially in challenging stroke scenarios.”

The conference concluded with discussions focused on managing complications, such as hemorrhagic transformations post-reperfusion, ischemic worsening, re-occlusion, and technical dilemmas during thrombectomy. Renowned experts shared their insights on rescue strategies, complication management protocols, and clinical pearls gleaned from their extensive experiences.

The STAT-2025 Conference saw over 650 delegates participating with international faculty who travelled from countries including the USA, Spain, Switzerland, Singapore, and Turkey, underscoring the global nature of collaborative stroke care advancements.
