Bengaluru, 21st March 2025: Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), a leading business school in India, successfully organized the “India Study Program 2025”. This immersive program provided students from FH Vorarlberg, Austria, with a unique opportunity to explore India’s rich cultural, social, and business landscapes while engaging in insightful discussions on sustainability, diversity, and leadership.

The 10-day program held interactive sessions with BIMTECH’s highly experienced faculty, cultural immersion activities, and field visits to significant locations, including the Aravalli Biodiversity Park (ABP) Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, a gender and child development initiative at Protsahan, and a historical tour of Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal. The curriculum was carefully designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of India’s heritage, sustainability challenges, and corporate ecosystem.

The thought-provoking academic sessions included insightful lectures on topics such as sustainable business practices, the role of Ayurveda in holistic wellness, and the impact of environmental challenges. Practical experiences like meditation, yoga sessions, and student interactions enriched the learning journey.

Reflecting on the success of this experience, Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director, BIMTECH, shared, “The India Study Program 2025 has been a remarkable journey of cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue. Through this initiative, our guests have not only gained academic insights but also first-hand exposure to India’s vibrant traditions and progressive steps in sustainability and development. Such initiatives are paramount for the holistic development of students preparing them to lead and manage diverse teams in a globalized business environment. We are proud to be a globally connected institution that embraces cultural diversity.”

A key highlight was the visit to SCORE Livelihood Foundation interventions at Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh by fourteen students and two faculty members of Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences. This immersive experience provided them with an opportunity to engage in cross-cultural discussions, interact closely with local communities, and understand the challenges and best practices in sustainable development, particularly in water, agriculture, horticulture, and forestry.

As part of their visit, the students explored Khajaraha village in Babia and Ghughava village in Badagaon Block, along with key institutions such as the Climate and Applied Forest Research Institute, RISE-Jhansi Incubation Centre, and Lakshya Community Radio Station. To deepen their cultural understanding, the students also stayed 1-night with Indian families in pairs, offering them a first-hand experience of local traditions and lifestyles.

The final session featured a reflection and feedback discussion, where students shared their experiences, highlighting how this visit deepened their understanding of India’s social fabric and evolving economics. Students from both the institutes participated in group discussion on Sustainable Development Programs and recognised that achieving SDGs, and slowing climate change requires global collaboration by developed, developing and underdeveloped countries on different scales and resources. The program culminated with a visit to Dilli Haat, where students explored India’s diverse handicrafts and cultural expressions.
