Chief Minister extends support to SHGs during State Level Self Help Group Barosha Sammelan, 2024

New Delhi, March 4: The Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr Prem Singh Tamang attended the State Level Self Help Group Barosha Sammelan,2024 at Jorethang Playground, on Sunday.

The programme was organised by Rural Development Department and had the presence of Ministers, MLAs, chairpersons along with the officers from line departments, representatives and members of SHGs from the state.

During the programme, the Chief Minister highlighted various women centric schemes and policies which has been implemented for the upliftment of women in the state.

He urged the women to be self sufficient and work collaboratively to build confidence in the government’s policies and strategies.

During the programme he made various announcements to empower women of the state.

1 Each Self-Help Group (SHG) will be privileged to represent for a Chairman and Advisor at the district level.

2. Two vehicles will be provided to SHGs in every district to enhance their mobility and efficiency.

3. Dedicated SHG Bhawans will be established in each district to serve as centers for coordination and support.

4. Staff of the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) will be regularized to ensure stability and effectiveness in service delivery.

5 A substantial fund allocation of Rs 2 crore per annum will be made to all districts, with the exception of Namchi, which, due to its larger size and needs, will receive Rs 4 crore annually.

The Chief Minister also distributed cheques

amounting to Rs 84,113,000 to various beneficiaries and associations from all six districts of Sikkim.
