How to take screenshot in laptop with Windows 10 or Windows 11

Full screen screenshot – If you just want a full screen screenshot, one of the simplest methods is to use the Windows Key + Print Screen together. The Print Screen key can be labelled differently such as PrtSc, PrtScn, or PrtScr. However, the functionality remains the same. When you press the Windows Key + Print Screen together, the full screen screenshot is saved automatically in Pictures → Screenshots folder as a PNG file.

Full screen screenshot to clipboard – For this, you just need to press the Print Screen key on the keyboard. The screenshot is saved automatically to the clipboard. If you want to save it as a file, you can use programs like MS Paint, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, email, etc. In these programs, just use Paste or Ctrl + V to use the file and save it.

Take screenshot of active window – Depending on the situation, you may need only the screenshot of the active window and not the entire screen. For this, an easy way is to use the Alt + Print Screen keys together. The screenshot of the active window is saved to the clipboard. You can then use any editing program to use and save the file.

Use the Snipping Tool app – This is inbuilt in Windows latest versions. But many people are not aware of the Snipping tool. To access the Snipping tool, you just need to start typing ‘Snipping’ in the Start menu. Just open the app and click on ‘New’ to take a screenshot. You can also pin the Snipping tool on the Start menu to easily access it whenever you need it.

Snipping tool has various editing options also such as highlighter, pen, eraser, shapes, image crop, scan text, etc. Screenshots taken with the Snipping tool can be easily saved to your laptop. Snipping tool also has the option for video screenshots. There are also shortcuts such as “Windows key + Shift + S” to open the Snipping tool special functions such as rectangular snip, freeform snip, window snip and full screen snip.

How to take screenshot in laptop with Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, and most GNOME-based desktops)

For full screen screenshot, just use the Print Screen key on the keyboard. The picture will be saved to the clipboard or a dialog box will open, depending on the specific Linux distro being used. For screenshot of the active window, use Alt + Print Screen. Linux systems also have dedicated screenshot tools that can be used. You can search for these in the application menu. Some popular screenshot platforms for Linux systems include Flameshot, Spectacle (KDE), or gnome-screenshot.

How to take screenshot in laptop with Chrome OS

• Full screen: Ctrl + Show Windows key (the rectangle with two lines, usually F5).
• Partial: Ctrl + Shift + Show Windows key, then drag.
• Screenshots are saved to the Downloads folder or Google Drive.
