Sharad Tripathi

Sharad Tripathi is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Lok Sabha constituency of Sant Kabir Nagar in the state of Uttar Pradesh.Sant Kabir Nagar is a new constituency that was created in the year 2008, as part of the delimitation exercise based on the recommendations provided  by the Delimitation Commission of India. Sharad Tripathi is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sharad Tripathi defeated his nearest rival Bhism Shankar (Kushal Tiwari) of Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) by a margin of more than 90,000 votes. Sharad Tripathi secured 3,48,892votes whereas his nearest rival secured 2,50,914 votes. Sharad Tripathi has been associated with a wide variety of social welfare projects and he has a good connect with the people in his constituency.

Early Life and Education

Sharad Tripathi was born on January 09, 1972 to Shri Ramapati Ram Tripathi and Smt. Arundhati Devi. He was born in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Sharad Tripathi completed his M.A. from Kanpur University. He married Rita Tripathi on February 19, 1998.

Political Career

  • May, 2014: Elected to 16th Lok Sabha
  • 1 Sep. 2014 onwards: Member, Standing Committee on External Affairs; Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry Of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation
  • 12 June 2017 onwards: Member, House Committee

Personal Pursuits

Despite his busy schedule, Sharad Tripathi continues to pursue his personal interests. He likes to write and has been involved in literary work. One of his works has been published, a book titled ‘Ek Mulaqat Kabir Se’. Apart from writing, Sharad also has interests in music and sports. One of his favorite sports is football.
