The term “Losar” is derived from two components: “Lo,” which signifies year, and “Sar,” meaning new. The celebration of Gyalpu Losar spans 15 days, with the principal festivities occurring during the initial three days.
On the first day, a traditional beverage known as ‘Changkol’ is prepared from ‘chhaang’, a type of Tibetan beverage. The second day is referred to as King’s Losar (Gyalpo Losar), while the third day is marked by communal gatherings featuring feasts, accompanied by traditional music and dance.
Today’s festivities also featured cultural events and dance performances by the students from different schools within the Barfung Constituency.
This was succeeded by the final football match between the Veterans (Bakhim & Sangmoo), and the Open Men’s Football Tournament between (Boot Camp & Dojak FC).
