Sikkim’s CM Tamang launches Soreng District’s first citizen centric e-services

New Delhi, August 14: On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day celebrations, the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay said launched the e-district programme at Jautar Stadium, today in order to provide paperless and hassle-free governance in Soreng for the benefit and convenience of the public.

Briefing about the initiative, DC Soreng said that the launched citizen centric e-services programme was made possible under the visionary leadership of the CM. He stated that the e-district programme of Soreng was created to bring governance to the doorstep of the public, by streamlining and expediting various services through online and also lessening the burden of physically visiting the government offices. Further, the programme also aims at the introduction of payment services through online transaction methods like Gpay, UPI transactions and other electronic methods.

He added that a total of six categorical e-certificates for Scheduled Castes Certificates, Scheduled Tribe Certificates, Other Backward Class Certificates, Primitive Tribe Certificates, Income and Employment Cards have been made accessible starting today.

Furthermore, he said that the e-services also enables the applicants to make online payment while avoiding the hassle of visiting the banks for payments.

Similarly, he also informed that all 36 GPUs within the district have been equipped with Common Service Centres (CSC) along with the appointment of two trained personnel to facilitate the services. These centres can be visited for availing various services like paying of road-tax, booking of train, flight tickets and so forth at the convenience of their own Gram Prasashan Kendras (GPKs).

He urged the public to avail the services which have been made for their comfort and convenience. Hence an increase in demand and use of the present services by the public will create more avenues for the services to expand.

Additionally, he also stated that this change stands as a testimony of the Chief Minister’s vision to bring about digital revolution in the State, with Soreng launching its e-district programme brings much pride and joy to the people and the administration, he concluded.

To mark the occasion, the Chief Minister handed out the online Scheduled Tribe e-certificate and Primitive Tribe e-certificate to the applicants.

The CM also informed the gathering about the “Hamro Dabai Dokan” initiative, which is part of the current government’s efforts to improve accessibility to essential medicine. Funds for this initiative have already been earmarked in this year’s budget, demonstrating our commitment to the well-being of our citizens, he said.

“Our journey to a brighter future depends on the collective commitment of our community. We strive to build a “Sunaulo Sikkim, Sammriddh Sikkim, Samarth Sikkim”, in alignment with this, our government is also dedicated to contributing to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
