Tej Pratap Singh Yadav

Tej Pratap Singh Yadav is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Lok Sabha constituency of Mainpuri in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Yadav is a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP). In the 2014 Lok Sabha by-election, Tej Pratap Singh Yadav defeated his nearest rival Prem Singh Shakya of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of more than 3 lakh votes. In this election, the fight was majorly between SP and BJP, with both parties together garnering more than 97 percent of the votes (SP – 64.89 percent and BJP – 33 percent). Tej Pratap Singh Yadav comes from a family with political background. Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, is the great-uncle of Tej Pratap Singh Yadav. Tej’s grandfather, Ratan Singh Yadav, was the elder brother of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Early Life and Education

Tej Pratap Singh Yadav was born on November 21, 1987 to Shri Ranvir Singh Yadav and Smt. Mridula Yadav. He was born is Saifai, located in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. He has completed his post graduate education (MBA) from Leeds University in the UK. On February 26, 2015, he married Rajlakshmi Yadav, the youngest daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav.
