Want to stay away from diabetes? Just grab some fresh milk

The health wonders of fresh milk and milk products have been known to us since many decades. Moreover, it leaves little doubt in our minds, as new research studies are regularly being conducted, many of which have found evidence of the health benefits of milk. One such research study has special importance, as it has shown that regular consumption of full fat organic milk can help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. This is a significant finding since diabetes is an incurable disease and the leading cause of other medical conditions such as cardiovascular problems, heart disease, renal failure, skin problems, high blood pressure, impotency, etc. To know that regular consumption of organic full cream milk can help keep diabetes at bay sounds like good news to people who may be at risk of developing diabetes.

The research study was conducted at the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy and involved more than 3,000 people. These volunteers were tracked for a period of around 15 years and data related to their lifestyle and dietary habits was meticulously recorded at predetermined intervals. When researchers analyzed the data, they found out that people who consumed full fat dairy products such as full fat organic milk had a 46% reduced risk of developing diabetes, as compared to people who consumed more low-fat items. A 46% reduction in risk is significant in the world of medicine, something that shows the health benefits of organic full cream milk.

One of the researchers leading the research project said that even though the results are preliminary, the research study has come up with some evidence that full cream milk can help reduce the risk of diabetes. He said that more such research studies are needed to substantiate the link between full fat dairy consumption and reduced risk of diabetes. He advised people to not limit themselves to any specific food and rather include a wide range of food items in their diet including full fat dairy.

Commenting on the findings of the research study, a nutritional expert said that the fat found in dairy products such as fresh milk is the good fat, which is beneficial for the human body. He said that unhealthy fats are those that undergo processing or the ones that we get through fried food items. He said that milk only goes through pasteurization, which is a safe process and retains the nutritional value of milk.
