“On the occasion of World Environment Day, I, Dr. Prof. Anand Achari, Principal, VESCOA, take a moment to share my thoughts with you. I wish to reflect on and reiterate the present generation’s responsibility to shape our sustainable, climate-resilient future in harmony with nature. Every decision we make at present, every innovation we pursue, and every structure we design impacts our future world.
At VESCOA, sustainability is a guiding principle woven into our vision and mission. We have integrated sustainability as a non-negotiable aspect of architectural education to create a sustainable humane habitat. Our goal is to develop future architects who are technically competent and moral leaders who understand that their designs must coexist with nature and act as committed and responsible agents for positive change to serve society.
At VESCOA, we believe that architectural education must evolve to meet the demands of a sustainable, ethical, and adaptable vision. Our academic frameworks, collaborative projects, and research initiatives contribute meaningfully to a better world. VESCOA is relentlessly spearheading a mission to build not just for today but for a future that thrives in balance with nature.
Real change begins with individual commitment. Simple actions like reducing waste, conserving resources, embracing the climate-responsive design approach, and respecting nature collectively drive the global movement toward sustainability. At VESCOA, we instill a sense of environmental stewardship and encourage pro-environment behaviour. Today, through the multiple initiatives of VESCOA Green Club, we reaffirm our commitment to restoring and protecting ecosystems in recognition of World Environment Day.”

“The Renewable Energy business which fundamentally appears to be clean, also has a huge room for enhancing sustainability measures. Disposal of fibre reinforced plastics used for wind turbine rotor blades, spinners and nacelle, upon completion of its useful life are posing a challenge.
Alternate material to FRPs or devising degradability in composites is the focus area to prevent future challenges. Disposal of Solar PV panels is the biggest challenge that humans are witnessing. Putting the said pollutant to an alternate use is a secondary solution when one surrenders the competency to innovate. The true challenge is to refrain from creation of plastics or fibre glass of any form; and the answer lies in the imposition of a disciplinary framework to drive innovation & reform the technology landscape.
Sustainability isn’t just a goal, but it’s our moral responsibility!”
