Pune, 21 November 2025: Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has crossed the 2 million production milestone, a landmark moment in its 25-year journey in India. The achievement comes on the back of the Group’s strongest commercial momentum yet, with October 2025 emerging as the most successful month since the Group’s formation, reinforcing India’s strategic role within the global network.
The milestone includes over 500,000 vehicles built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, designed and developed in India by local engineering teams. This platform underpins the Škoda Kushaq, Slavia, Kylaq, and the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus — models that have become the backbone of the Group’s recent growth. The last 500,000 units were produced in just 3.5 years, reflecting robust demand for India-built, globally benchmarked products.
Škoda Auto and Volkswagen continue to post strong commercial performance. Škoda Auto India recorded its highest-ever 10-month performance, more than doubling year-on-year to reach 61,607 units in 2025. Volkswagen India, on the other hand, celebrated Diwali with its highest-ever monthly sales for the Virtus, which now enjoys over 40% share in 40 months in the premium sedan segment.
The Group’s premium and luxury brands also contributed to its strong market position. Bentley began a new chapter in India, with its operations, including sales, marketing, and aftersales, now housed under Bentley India, an operational division within SAVWIPL, accompanied by all-new showrooms in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Porsche India added 4,400+ customers over the past six years and expanded its footprint to 13 points of sale across the country. Audi celebrated multiple milestones: the RS Q8 won Performance Car of the Year at the 2025 AutoX Awards, and Audi Approved: plus posted 5% growth between January and September 2025. The brand also strengthened India’s EV ecosystem with over 6,500 charging points installed under Phase II of the segment-first Charge My Audi initiative.
SAVWIPL’s super-luxury marque, Lamborghini, continued to set benchmarks with its best-ever annual performance in 2024, delivering 113 cars, a 10% increase over 2023. The launch of the Temerario in India, following the Revuelto and Urus SE, marks the completion of Lamborghini’s hybrid transition in line with its Direzione Cor Tauri strategy.
Piyush Arora, CEO & Managing Director, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, said, “Every milestone we achieve in India reflects our strong belief in the country’s potential — not just as a market but as a driving force in the future of mobility. The 2-million mark is the outcome of consistent investment in people, technology and local capability. It also speaks to the exceptional trust Indian customers place in our six brands. Indian buyers are among the most informed and discerning in the world. They evaluate every strength and every limitation before choosing a Volkswagen, Škoda, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini or Bentley, and their confidence strengthens our resolve. This achievement highlights how closely we listen to our customers and how their evolving expectations shape the products we design and build here, with the same quality, precision and trust that define the Group worldwide.”
Exports remain a strong pillar of the Group’s operations. More than 700,000 vehicles have been shipped from India to markets across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. This strengthens India’s emergence as an export hub under the vision of ‘Made in India, Driven by the World.’
The Group operates two state-of-the-art facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. With an investment of nearly €600 million, the Pune plant was established to support higher volumes and deeper localisation. Collectively, they anchor the Group’s India operations and deliver the agility required to support its multi-brand, multi-market strategy.
With strong local engineering capabilities backed by global technology, the Group is positioning India as a hub that builds for both domestic consumers and global markets. The 2 million production milestone reflects not just a manufacturing achievement but India’s expanding role in shaping the Group’s future mobility roadmap.
To reinforce its competitive edge, SAVWIPL is intensively driving improvements across the organization. This includes a continuous focus on cost optimization and market performance. Building on its local strengths, the Group is accelerating localization throughout the value chain. The clear objective is to make SAVWIPL stronger, more agile, and well-positioned to lay the foundation for long-term success in India.
