Bengaluru,22nd June,2026: Prayoga Institute of Education Research, Bengaluru in association with the International Geoscience Education Organisation (IGEO) is organizing the second International Geoscience Youth Movement (I-GYM) on July 25-29. This event will be conducted with the support of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India at their campus off Kanakapura road.

Following the success of the inaugural edition of the program in 2025, which brought in 20 participants from six countries, IGYM 2026 seeks to deepen engagement, enhance learning and foster cross-cultural collaboration in earth sciences learning. The event will be graced by resource experts from Earth Sciences including Professor Nir Orion, Chair, International Geosciences Education Organisation (IGEO), Dr R Shankar, Advisor, IGEO, Dr Vikram Vishal, Professor, Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Bombay and others.

The workshop will be structured around three core components Earth Systems Education, Social and Collaborative Learning and Leadership Development. Sharing his thoughts about this program, Dr. R Shankar, Advisor, IGEO, says, “Today, there is a significant gap in Earth systems education with opportunities lacking to develop a holistic understanding of our planet and its interconnected processes. IGYM seeks to address this challenge through sustained efforts that nurture informed and engaged youth leaders. By fostering curiosity, scientific understanding and leadership skills the programme empowers participants to initiate meaningful action and become ambassadors for geosciences in their communities.”

The five day I-GYM 2025 held at Prayoga campus marked the start of the global initiative to empower youth as leaders and advocates of Earth Science Education. The five-day residential workshop will bring together highly motivated national and international students with many affiliated with the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) ecosystem.
