Dimple Yadav is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Lok Sabha constituency of Kannauj in the state of Uttar Pradesh. She is a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP). In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she defeated her nearest rival Subrat Pathak of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of more than 19,000 votes. Dimple’s entry into mainstream politics was after she married Akhilesh Yadav, the current leader of Samajwadi Party and the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Throughout her political career, Dimple has been associated with various projects that focus on education of girls and welfare of women. She has also worked on various social and cultural projects in Kannauj.
Early Life and Education
Dimple Yadav was born on January 15, 1978 to Shri Ram Chandra Singh Rawat and Smt. Champa Rawat. She was born in Pune, Maharashtra. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in commerce (B.Com) and received education at Lucknow University in Uttar Pradesh. Her marriage to Akhilesh Yadav took place on November 24, 1999.
